My interfaces for my Windows PC usually don’t involve a monitor or a keyboard/mouse. I’m doing a lot of playing around with VR so I end up connecting via the amazing Virtual Desktop. If you’re reading this what are your major OSes that you always seem to have a laptop or device running?

I recently gave up my Surface Pro 7, which was my favorite device overall, but when I was getting a new machine to replace it, I didn't venture away from the Surface line-up because these are too good. Unfortunately, running Linux OSs on Surface devices is a bit challenging, so I've stuck with Win11

I don't know how well WSL2 would run on a Surface but I'm finding it's a good compromise for me to get a lot of my Linuxy stuff done. I still end up running dedicated Ubuntu boxes for serious stuff, but WSL gets me pretty far.

Currently on a Surface Pro3 Win10. Tested with Zorin and it seems to run like Win10 it's gonna replace. The docking station is recognized and the external monitor hooked up to it. Touch screen is good too.

Older models work better with Linux than newer ones, and if you want all the features to keep working, you need a custom kernel from github.com/linux-surfac... I haven't tried much past that, but last I tried it (a few weeks ago) it didn't run the pressure sensitive pen and face recognition was MIA

Oh and my models were the Surface Pro 7 and Surface Laptop 4. Surface Pro 7 worked a lot better than the Laptop 4 but the pen pressure was very borked on both, and the screen rotation stuff refused to work on the Pro 7.
