It has taken some intensive muscle memory retraining coming from screen. I’ve got some binds to make it more screen-like but I think I’m going to drop even those when I’m a little less busy 😅 For copy and paste I had to disable some iterm features because it was doing wayyy too much.
Also tmux continues to be a game changer. Old habits kept me in screen (and I like screen) but tmux is winning me over massively.

I don't know how well WSL2 would run on a Surface but I'm finding it's a good compromise for me to get a lot of my Linuxy stuff done. I still end up running dedicated Ubuntu boxes for serious stuff, but WSL gets me pretty far.

Apple allows iPad users to customize keyboard special keys like Caps Lock and Control. So now my Caps Lock is Control and my Control is Escape. This actually turns out pretty optimally. On the iPad keyboard there is no natural Escape key, which could make some shell operations weird.
My interfaces for my Windows PC usually don’t involve a monitor or a keyboard/mouse. I’m doing a lot of playing around with VR so I end up connecting via the amazing Virtual Desktop. If you’re reading this what are your major OSes that you always seem to have a laptop or device running?

I am happy to report that I have finally transitioned to tmux. All it took was binding almost every command from screen into a .tmux.conf (I'm old and going on 25 years of muscle memory ok). It's really nice though.

I'm feeling engaged again in AI, and the general machinations of the tech industry.. but not in a way the incumbents will probably like. I want to create more efficiency, more autonomy, and more justice for workers. Right now that's not the direction things are going, but it can change.
