Voting rights in the US. Educate yourself. At the beginning of this country, only 6% of the population could vote. If you weren't a property owning white male, no you couldn't vote. OBTW, the originalists want to go back there. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Timelin...

On a tour of Colonial Williamsburg I learned that in colonial Virginia you could only vote if you were a white, land owning, male, Protestant. And they thought they were being open-minded by allowing Presbyterians to vote.

I was not aware of the Protestant thing. Without that I am simply amazed at how far we've come and how willingly we are (collectively) to go back to that shite.
