Just give it some time. After the Arabic word for sand storm takes hold and more people use it, here in the USA, some will complain of cultural appropriation and people will go back to calling them sand storms

Respectfully, in meteorology we call this particular type of dust storm “haboob”. We also use other words in science that are of Arabic descent, such as monsoon, algebra, algorithm, and more. See also coffee, serendipity, and zero. It might be worth reflecting on the origin of your strong response.
