compare the status of the people of Cuba to the status for the people of Haiti, the DR, or Puerto Rico. tell us honestly which one would you rather be a poor rural farmer in?

"Would you rather live in a stable independent country, a colony or a warzone?" Hmmm.
Wrong question, because poor rural farmers don't care about independence, they care about not being poor. Better questions: How many Puerto Ricans emigrated to Cuba? How many Cubans emigrated to Puerto Rico or the US?
how is puerto rico different from cuba today both are a crumbling mess led by inept morons
what’s it like getting healthcare or education or housing in PR?
Awful. Chronic shortage of medical specialists. As of now there's one pediatric heart surgeon on the entire archipelago. The island of Veiques Hasn't had a functioning medical center since 2017. There's a chronic housing shortage costs are too high due to too many airbnbs. Need i go on
it’s vile, I hate to hear it. so much human potential being wasted, for what? so some fucking banks can extract a few more dollars and some crypto pedophiles can buy up land for their next “no taxes or age of consent slavery zone” project…
It wasn't always like this. Puerto Rico's health care system used to beat the envy of the caribbean. It was actually a universal health care system from 1957-1993. Sadly neoliberal pro statehood politicians privatized it over the years until it was finally dismantled in 1993
industry groups from insurance and hospitals and the US govt meet with Brazilian counterparts annually here to reassess their plans to do the same to Brazil’s SUS, which is phenomenal
I won't say Puerto Rico is treated well by the US, because it's not. But again, show me those immigration stats - let's see what people living in these places think and do.
well 2024 marked the 1st time since 1952 the independence party of puerto rico finished 2nd in the gov race so it seems people are getting fed up in puerto rico with the us
As they should. But again - we're comparing immigrants stats between Puerto Rico and Cuba. Are more Cubans going to Puerto Rico and the US, or vice versa? Because if most Cubans really valued "independence" (as in dynastic rule by the Castros) more than US influence, they'd never go to the US.
It's not that they don't value independence it's that the current situation is not habitable for them. Plenty of Cuban exiles still believe that Cuba should be a sovereign state it's as if they want a different government In charge
Wanting perfect things but choosing the best that actually exists is how you end up with people saying they love independent Cuba while emigrating to the US. I have nothing to add.
BRO you think there are fewer Puerto Ricans here than Cubans what are you smoking
