bro you’re spouting off about the Stasi from a country that IMPORTED Nazis, and has continuously backed Nazi and neo-Nazi cells in its various imperialist campaigns since immediately afte WWII. yet you’re so brainwashed you can only think of Red Scare propaganda to draw comparisons. get educated.

The Stasi worked with far right terrorists in West Germany, specifically the Hepp-Kexel-Group in an effort to destabilise. Turns out oppressive regimes mostly don't care about political leanings just control. Perhaps you should as you say get educated.

Wow, a covert operations organization was doing covert operations?! Shocking!

According to Hepp, the group wanted to attract political attention with large terrorist attacks, modeled on the IRA. Kexel and Hepp planned together with the right-wing terrorist Peter Naumann, to free the war criminal Rudolf Hess from Spandau Prison. After a row in the group, this plan was abandoned.[1] Instead, the Hepp-Kexel group published a paper titled Farewell to Hitlerism. They called for an

Again there is simply no comparison. Consider what the NATO version of this was doing and continued to do: Gladio in Italy, the Piazza Fontana bombing, the assassination of Aldo Moro, the Brabant killings, even the Dutroux child trafficking network is deeply tied to US/Nazi “stay behind” networks.

Bro, the DDR solved the Nazi-Problem bei declaring there are no Nazis. That’s how they solved vandalism, too. Like yes, the STASI operated like any other antidemocratic, anticonstitutional organisation. What’s your point anyway

Both east Germany and Russia kept and „imported“ their share of Nazis as well. This effing stupid internet trope needs to die. Learn history, get off the internet

There’s absolutely no comparison. A simple example: what is the USSR’s equivalent to Colonia Dignidad? In which countries did the GDR install former Nazi leadership in key roles trafficking arms, drugs and training death squads as the US did with Klaus Barbie in Bolivia?

The USSR put Nazi scientists into the austere science-equivalent of work camps to extract their knowledge-resources to fight *against* the Nazis like Adolf Heusinger who the US/UK installed into NATO’s high command. Do you believe in the Double Genocide false equivalence propaganda, too? Hogshit.

No, but I don’t believe the hogshit that the west was somehow unique in assimilating/‚rehabilitaing‘ ex-Nazis, nor do I idolize the UdSSR or think the DDR was a nice place to live

Nice place to live *compared to what*, do you see what capitalism has achieved in Russia… and Ukraine and Azerbaijan and Armenia…? The majority of people who lived in the USSR think its dissolution was a mistake: www.statista.com/statistics/1...

bar graph showing 84% yes, 14% no among 55+ year old Russians in answer to the question “Do you regret the dissolution of the USSR?” in a 2021 survey. The percentage of yes decreases with each successively younger age group. In total 63% yes, regret, 28% no, don’t regret.

Yes, in the beginning they hunted some nazis, but… Stasi hired ex nazis as spies, ignored the growing problem of neonazis in East Germany during the 1980s and even cooperated with neonazis in the west, when it suited them. www.bpb.de/themen/deuts...

hiring ex-Nazis as spies, versus strategically installing some of the most powerful Nazis, like Reinhard Gehlen, to reconstitute Nazi ideology bit by bit gradually across Europe, expressing itself very clearly in jackbooted pigs beating the shit out of Jews, Arabs, queers at anti-genocide protests.

You made my point. East German historical documents are rife with examples how they emulated Gestapo tactics. The Stasi were more feared, and considered more brutal than any of the other Soviet-bloc secret police apparatus. Present-day ICE is on an identical footing.

There were some idealists among their ranks, and people who genuinely feared the western world, but in the end most of them were Stalinists and authoritarians to the core.

Actually East Germany has a real modern problem with Neo Nazis because the official line was “that was something they did *over there*” and they never really grappled with the legacy of it the way the West Germans did so maybe take a seat motherfucker

It's pointing to a communist secret police when the allegory is a fascist paramilitary force terrorizing communities. Brownshirts are far closer in every way. Stasi were hyper-constitutionalist, detecting dissent to consolidate a repressive totalitarian state.

You can cry “authoritarianism” as much as you want, but the fact of the matter is that under capitalism, we know by now where bourgeois “democracy” leads. It leads HERE. Is this your ideal government? or do you think this kind of politics/ideology should be ruthlessly fought? That’s the question.

No one's (at least not me) saying the Stazi were good, but they were a long way from ICE. Trump's regime is white supremacist enacting a goal of ethnic cleansing. The Stazi were driven to protect the communist state by controlling citizen's lives. Very different animals.
