My concern is we will have no way to get oil to our refineries in Ontario when things get worse with the Americans and we still need gasoline and diesel in the short term.

Is that because of the reversal of line 9 to access cheaper crude from the USA? That line was reversed twice before, wouldn't another reversal give back access to west coast Canadian crude for Ontario?

I am aware of a natural gas pipeline to ontario that is entirely within canada but i dont believe one exists for oil. If the americans shut off their section, how will we get our oil to half of our country? Thats my concern.

IMO I would rather see the east move away from oil but can't see it happening fast enough. Our clean tech "experts" in the media/social media actually fight against a critical clean tech option - clean hydrogen. Taking that into consideration I wouldn't fight against a new oil pipeline through 1/2

Canada to supply the refineries etc in Ontario. Unless we all get on board with all the truly needed clean tech options we will never achieve our climate goals. It really is that simple. 2/2

That is the answer. And the only worthy answer. Let's get on with that, rather than any more fossil fuel fussing.

Cutting off those pipelines would do serious damage to the American refineries dependent on Canadian crude. The other issue is the time it takes to build alternative pipelines to avoid the U.S. Depending on terrain, it can take years. The cost would be huge and with declining oil use, a huge debt.

It can take years, but I don't believe it has to. Look at how quickly our grandparents were able to build military hardware in WW2. Because of what was at stake. I believe we are facing similar threats now and a similar mobilization is necessary.

I'm waiting to see what happens in the USA when the tariffs start pushing prices higher. Hopefully harassing Canada will be the last thing on their mind. Some of our Canadian terrain makes putting in pipelines very difficult. Crazy times.
