It's unconscionable that the whole Republican party is working with a dying industry to condemn the US to being its life-support system for the 21st century.

The Republican party IS that dying industry. That industry is the government of multiple nation-(petro)states. Capturing the Republican party was the solution for that process in America. Government is the only technology with the scale to address climate change. Which is why it had to be captured.
