I'll trust Ken's opinion on US law, but I want to point out the way these people "think": Simply *existing* in a "space" is violent abuse. Committing an actual act of unprovoked violent abuse is not.

/2 This would very plausibly get charged in the U.S. — particularly if it were about a group subject to less prejudice. It’s not clear the prosecution would succeed, but it’s quite possible this would get you arrested here, particularly by state authorities.

The UK’s approach to prosecutions for social media content is quite different than ours in ways I have criticized. This one is within shouting distance of prosecutable in the U.S. The relevant question is whether it’s sufficiently imminent to meet our incitement standard./1

Fascism is a branch of conservatism, and Yes this is conservatism. I have, in fact read a book: in fact I've read HUNDREDS of books on this exact subject, the intellectual history and philosophy of modern conservatism, and that's how I know this.

and more practically and directly: contemporary Conservatism is all about hiding from reality. Remember "Reality has a well known liberal bias"? Cons response to that is to just try and make discussing reality illegal.

It's awful and criminal, but it is also part of their conservatism. The thinking that motivates Yarvin, Thiel, and the Claremont Institute ultimately blames the Enlightenment and Empiricism for leading us away from Revelation as the only source of "Truth", so theyve got ideological beef with science

tl;dr: They're going to get rid of the CDC as you know it. They're going to build something new and ghastly that they call the CDC, using its legal powers and data systems, and they are going to use it to hunt down every abortion in America. We are still in the window of time when we can stop that.

You've seen how much damage RFK has done at HHS. RFK is a disorganized, age-addled maniac, and most of his job is PR stunts. I cannot begin to tell you how much damage a Thiel-verse technocrat like O'Neill will do in CDC. Starting with: he will persecute women you know and love for their abortions.
Colin Carlson (@colincarlson.bsky.social) reposted reply parent
(Unfortunately for these sweaty incels, who have never even had a chance to try the rhythm method much less screw it up, abortion is healthcare, and there will always be abortion.)
Colin Carlson (@colincarlson.bsky.social) reposted reply parent
But by far and away, the biggest priority for a Heritage Foundation-captured CDC is going to be using the agency's legal frameworks for access to medical data, and weaponizing them to control women. *Most* of the Project 2025 plan for CDC is a witch hunt against abortion on an unprecedented scale.
Colin Carlson (@colincarlson.bsky.social) reposted reply parent
The goal is to weaponize the law to write public health out of existence: "By statute or regulation, CDC guidance must be prohibited from taking on a prescriptive character." That means, for example: no vaccine recommendations at all. Not fewer; none.
Colin Carlson (@colincarlson.bsky.social) reposted reply parent
In the next Covid-19, mpox, H5N1, etc. - what scientists call "Disease X" - O'Neill's CDC won't even test people to try to track infections, let alone stop them from spreading.

1. They want to split CDC into: - an empowered institution that gathers data from the states, which should set off alarm bells, not just because of what else I'm about to tell you, but because O'Neill is a Thiel guy, and Palantir is currently building the great database to end freedom
