Why would anyone want to play with a guy who is famous for cheating, doesn't wait his turn, steals your balls, and drives onto the putting green?

Because people play golf with someone like Trump mostly to make connections with rich and powerful people who might be able to help them in the future?

My inability to not call someone an asshole to their face strikes again.

There's an anecdote in Careless People about Mark Zuckerberg's entourage blatantly letting Zuck win at Settlers of Catan, and when the author (Sarah Wynn-Williams) got so sick of it she called him out to his face, everyone acted incredulous, like she'd accused him of eating a puppy. 1/2

I personally witnessed strongman Hun Sen of Cambodia cheating at golf. Then he cornered my husband in the club house and started bragging about his score. He was the only one oblivious to how embarrassing the whole scene was. Everyone knew he cheated regularly, but no one ever said a word.

I suspect it's the same with Trump. I wouldn't be surprised if (would even assume that) the ass-kissers and suck-ups who golf with him to network, gladhand, make deals, and influence him not only turn a blind eye to his cheating, but even assist in it when they can. No character, some people.
