That’s just not true. He disagrees with left activists about the most effective way to advance those beliefs. And his belief that, say, trans people deserve respect does not mean he agrees with left activists about every trans issue, or the wisdom of elevating the salience of trans issues.

He just said that the National Guard patrolling the streets of DC with live ammo is no big deal because he hasn't seen them personally. He isn't left wing. He is barely a Democrat. He is someone who grew up with wealth and acts like it. Little people don't matter to him

Ah, yes. The GOP is eliminating trans health care, trying to force them out of the public sphere entirely, and calling for trans people to be institutionalized or worse, and matty's prescription is for Democrats to stop "elevating the salience of trans issues."

I think you misspelled "telling Democrats to throw trans people under the bus." He's built his entire brand on telling the left that they're panicking and are sinning by actually advocating for the things they believe in, even as the GOP has become a full-on fascist party.

He thinks the way for democrats to advance their agenda is, somehow, to run as center-right politicians, and then suddenly do a bunch of liberal stuff when they're elected, without building any popular support for it, much less defending it against right-wing attacks.

As the GOP has ascended by relentlessly pushing its message and building a base on that, he tells Democrats the last thing they should do is take a principled stand and advocating for it. I'm sorry, but he's been of far more use to the GOP than the beliefs he claims to hold.
