Get it in writing I say! Governments come and go. This should have been a consideration from the get go, not an after thought. The Liberal government, whom I supported and voted for, was warned that process was needed to be followed.
Sadly, this damages the path to reconciliation by having to fight government for recognition of them and their rights. It’s not what I wanted of my government.
AGREED! And as a non–First Nations Canadian, I’m saddened that our Prime Minister overlooked the respect owed to First Nations in seeking unity. I had hoped we’d truly bridge our nation—with First Nations at its heart. Canada must always be about its peoples first, before any project.
