Oddly enough, we have been to Grand Marais twice on family vacations, with side trips to nearby Lutzen, which is a ski place with an "alpine slide" in summer. You take the lift up and then ride a sled down a concrete curvy track to the bottom. Where we went on our honeymoon in 1992!

The associated Lutzen resort burned down somewhat recently, sadly. Grand Marais is charming. We stayed at a hotel in Grand Marais right on the beach of Lake Superior. I think of it with great affection. Just beautiful.
