YouTube is running through an AI filter all the time right now with no opt-out. However, yes, some compression does some smoothing and lighting stuff. An egregious example of it on the fly is motion smoothing TV, inserting frames where none were. It’s not the AI we’re fighting, it’s only for gaming.

Short stories I write straight through and I do no plotting. Larger works, I do in parts, it looks like plotting sometimes with spread sheets and docs that are just a paragraph of salient info. Then I write the “parts” like a short, straight through, then shuffle, combine, break, and write more…
