I think I just listened to an audiobook narrated by an LLM-generated voice. Truly bizarre line delivery choices, odd pauses (for ex between “mademoiselle” and the character’s surname), mispronounced words etc.

Yeah, I had a similar experience last year.

It was bad enough that I ended up buying the book and reading it instead.

You should have recorded it for the next guy.

It was Hämäläinen's Comanche Empire, so I probably still have time to record it before the next person comes looking for it.

This could also be a podcast you’re describing. They are my gym playlist as every Crunch plays anodyne music too loudly to hear my own despite noise cancellation, and I’m wont to correct pronunciation out loud and out of the blue. Mispronunciation is endemic to podcasters (present company excepted).

Check out mine, Robert! I promise the pronunciation is impeccable! Love, Peter (PS: And if I realize later that despite my best efforts I messed up a name, I go back into the sound file to correct it!)

I’ve come across a couple of these for the same book, one was very obvious and the other less so except that it mispronounced words a human would not. It’s infuriating and I stop listening as soon as i realize.
