counterpoint: all hate to this guy. i used to work with a dude like this who actively described himself as a “grumpy sysadmin” and it was astonishing the amount of energy that either went into or had to be spent by others as a result of an attitude like this.
it’s literally just chauvinism, a blatant disregard for others, a way for small men to make a bigger impact than their mediocrity would otherwise allow
