Every time someone insists "LGBTs went too far and that's why there's all this backlash now" I want so badly to ask them if they actually think LGBT people in Russia, Poland, Turkey and Hungary went too far but I know they aren't making that argument in good faith so I wouldn't get a real answer
Queer Pole here: the bigots in Poland certainly pull out the "went too far" thing fairly often

Yes, in their minds LGBTQ+ people everywhere on the planet went “too far” – by having the audacity to exist.
What they – and all other flavors of bigots – want is the simple “freedom” of never having to see, or even think about, anyone who is, in any meaningful way, different from themselves.

I think we need to go further and get the whole of society to understand that being cis-het, and neither ace nor intersex, is not the human norm but just as much an aspect of normal human diversity as being LGBTQIAP2+
Just a lazy excuse - the reality is that if you are claiming that people don't, or shouldn't have, the right to even exist, then you really can't complain if they get upset about that ...
