I think more people should write fics about Halsin with chronic depression using herbs to treat himself. He has SO many dialogues hinting at having been depressed, he's a skilled healer and herbalist, and he's also incredibly secretive, hiding his weaknesses and also berating himself for them.
It's a perfect recipe for a guy who's been depressed for a century but without a single soul besides himself knowing. Write more depressed Halsin!

I've been thinking on this all day in the context of a long fic I'm currently working on, and I think I'm going to have my OC find Halsin smoking something akin to valerian root and have him get embarrassed. He's got a pipe in game, even if that is leftover from him being an old man
