The U.S. Supreme Court is a completely lawless body that has shredded the Constitution in order to empower a dictator. We're well beyond "how do we fix this." We're in "we need to figure out how to one day establish The Second United States Republic because the original one is defunct" territory.

Yes, we need to work to restore the Republic, and make whatever changes are needed to prevent this from happening again. Massive reforms are necessary, so that our laws and governance can better match the ideals this nation claims to value. Whether its the 'Second Republic' or not, *shrug*.

This is where I'm at with the current government, what's left of it. There comes a point in any attempt to repair a system, a house, or a company where it's easier to trash it and start over from scratch rather than try and fix the mess someone else made.

I wasn't born when either of those decisions were issued. It's my view now, because the court has changed since then. That's how time works.

That’s not, in my view, what those decisions actually did. Each involved judicial imposition of policy preferences, not plausibly connected to the Constitution, and the negating of democratically enacted policies.
my view varies depending on if the court is upholding, or undermining, the constitution the religious zealots in this country would absolutely, without a doubt, welcome authoritarianism in exchange for a national ban on abortion and elimination of the establishment clause

Perhaps we need to forget about a United States. Blue states can’t coexist with red states. We have a 6 corrupted right wing extremists justices at the supreme court. The breakup is inevitable. Unless the Democrats take back the White House, House and Senate. First order of business: SCOTUS reform.
On some levels this is true, but I think the people in red and blue states are far closer on most issues than the polarized political systems and media reflect. Without gerrymandering and winner-take-all systems that favor extremism in primaries, we'd have a lot more consensus and better leaders.

Congress has the power to impeach those responsible. If they don’t, we need to vote in a Congress who will. This kind of gross negligence and dereliction of duty is inexcusable.
