I don't really know because I'm not a joiner and I've never been to the meetings. Probably some of those. Mostly Boomer and elder Gen-X retirees with money who care more than absolutely anything about real estate values.

The neighborhood is on the National Register of Historic Places and, sure, there are a lot of things you gotta do here to keep it that way. But fuck off if you're mad that accessibility might reduce your cottage's quaintness quotient by 1.3%

I will say that one thing that kept me watching it was learning that Morgan Spector, who plays a Vanderbilt-like robber-baron, is a pro-Palestine member of DSA. The way he chews up all of the awful shit his character does is all the more fantastic when you know where he's coming from.
There would be a LOT. In their defense, they aren't trying to be super historically accurate -- lots of composite characters and events -- but it touches enough real stuff to be annoying.

Yeah, I've been aware of that for a little bit. Even if that's just a tiny part of a publication's subscriptions, it's indicative of an overall ethos there where Substack is trying to capture writers' audiences for itself in a host of ways.
