Either (a) there was no deal, and Trump is just imagining it due to his brains leaking out of his ears; or (b) there was one which would be super newsworthy. Manfred has the ability to either say the president is wrong or to illuminate us all, because it's one or the other!
But no, Manfred will not say this president is wrong, because Manfred is both very loyal to and quite afraid of Donald Trump.
This would become much more obvious to everyone if baseball writers to whom MLB will actually comment would simply point out Trump's claim of a Rose "deal" and talk about it a bit. It'd force Manfred to say something. They won't, though. No one wants to imperil their access.
