Almost every single book has anemic worldbuilding and a borderline nonexistent plot all to make room for an (often) pretty bland main couple and copious levels of sex. There’s no “fantasy” in them. At least not the genre kind. It’s just a bunch of stitched-together sex scenes.
I’m sure a few of them are good, but for the most part it feels like everyone’s trying to parrot Sarah J. Maas’ books (which already aren’t very good) for a quick buck and some BookTok publicity, which serves to inspire even more derivatives. The genre is in a constant state of autocannibalism.
