on instinct i said FEAR, but the way its written makes it sound like an exceptional part to an otherwise mediocre game, so that cant be it

Black, maybe?
IT IS BLACK
I remember some atari military fps on the Xbox that either said on the box or in an in-game behind the scenes commentary about how for the game they fired guns in all sorts of environments specifically for accurate variety and I remember it being pretty neat wish I remembered the name
idk if it was atari or not if I saw a screenshot I'd recognize it immediately. It wasn't any a cod or a medal of honor or black or that "army inspired training" sim one with the squad tactics, something one-off
I do remember that one level had you crossing a bridge or something over a wide jungle valley and in that area shots had a really long trailing echo that you don't usually hear in games but i might be misremembering, I last played it when halo 2 was new and don't have it anymore
FEAR gets honorary mention on any article about satisfying weapon design purely on the strength of its shotgun
Although I'm also a fan of the nailgun dangling folks from walls and the particle gun frying flesh off the bone
