This is a valid question. I live 25 miles from the nearest grocery stores. I can choose Walmart or HyVee. If you’re familiar with both stores, you know why folks like me still shop at Walmart. It’s all about cost. Hyvee groceries are often 1.5x what I’d spend on Walmart groceries.

I appreciate the response. I'm in CA so never heard of Hyvee but I get your point. I'm guessing Wal Mart essentially chased a # of other stores out of town. I'm in a suburb 20 m. NE of downtown Los Angeles so, yes, there are many, many choices at various price points & no reason to go to WM. Thx!

No more Walmart for me. Costco for anything I can't grow.

There's a Costco a short drive away. Haven't had a membership/shopped there in a very long time since I hate long lines and always found myself overspending. May reup our membership given current events-I'm now retired so could probably miss the long lines- just have to exercise some self restraint.

In terms of over-spending, the last time I went to our local Costco, I found myself seriously considering buying an electric/digital baby grand piano. That was my sign to not go back!

Yes, very easy to overspend - self restraint works for me.... sometimes. 😜
