I made egg this morning like I’m some sort of millionaire…
I made egg this morning like I’m some sort of millionaire…
I usually make eggs, but now it’s egg.
Sorry, but you made me laugh. I just ordered these stickers from Amazon with trumps face and him pointing upwards and it says 'I did that'!!! I'm going to put them in the grocery store egg section whenever I go and I'm sure I will eventually expand to other food products like bread and bacon.
Thanks for the laugh. It’d be 🤣🤣 if it wasn’t so 😡😢
Same
Hamburger Helper needs a new product for the times
"Helper- just food-ish enough to convince your body it's being sustained!"
I haven't bought eggs since maybe October. For someone who loves to bake, it's been difficult. Even if I wanted to cheat and use a box cake or brownie mix, I still need at least one egg for that.
1 can of pop plus 1 cake mix and bake as usual. I have a sister in law that is allergic to eggs and I do this when she is going to be eating with us.
Hilarious!
😁😁😁😁 at least you can still afford to buy Egg. Lol
Wow!!! I was just commenting about these. I ordered some today.
Story coming Tuesday on the issue.
I had a scrambled egg with my breakfast from McDonald's. I felt guilty and decadent.
🤣
*makes 5 egg omelette while laughing in Canadian*
I worked out a recipe for waffles that doesn't use eggs or milk. They're mostly just flour and water, but they look like waffles! The dogs don't mind.
Had omlettes. Used 9 eggs between the two of us. If you get chick's now, you may have eggs by late summer.
That’s all you can afford
Bought a 24 pack of XL eggs at costco on Friday. $7.49 Canadian $. Which is about $2.75 USD per dozen
Great price.
Regular price. Hasn’t changed
Same
And today I thaw eggs, I used to buy for about $5/ dozen, now $11. Just a couple of weeks ago they were already very expensive for $8/dozen.
Nice price, out of my curiosity are these caged hens, free range hens or something else?
I bought pasture-raised, certified humane eggs at Aldi for 6.19 a dozen last week. That's not much more than I usually pay for them. I won't buy anything else.
Commercial production hens are treated extremely inhumanely.
If that’s CAD that’s actually great price 😍!
Missouri, USA I do hate to admit I'm an American though. It's embarrassing.
There’s no reason to be embarrassed in being this or that nationality, it’s our deeds that define us ☺️ Bad populists politician come and go
Shhhh we won’t tell.
Every egg in our state has to be produced cage free and they are over 8 bux a dozen. All animal husbandry is inhumane. No matter what. I'd get that out of your head as a qualifier. We are at the top of the food chain because we ignore those addlepated notions.
They are the best. Theyare 5.50. Ill buy cage free if I have to. I can use those for baking but when I’m having eggs, they have to be pasture raised. Almost as good as the ones my neighbor gave me from a friend’s farm with dirt still on them. Amazing taste.
Greyridge Farms, Strathroy Ontario
Doesn’t tell me much 😓 Just wanted to compare the prices with my country. Your price is comparable to cat. 4 and 3 eggs in Poland which are respectively caged & deep litter hens farming. Free range and organic are like 0,25+ usd per egg here
No idea.
Imma make two when I get home. It's like I'm a billionaire but one who doesn't mind being taxed their fair share.
Same here. Costco around $8. I'm in Colorado and cage free is the law here.
My son, who lives in Denver, just texted that his Costco was entirely out of eggs - that hasn't happened before! Eventually, I'm afraid, we won't get eggs at any price, for awhile 😐
The trick is not going on a Sunday. They told me they don’t get a refrigerated shipment. I waited til Tuesday morning and they had tons. Ask him if he went on a Sunday.
Hahahaha! Good 😊 one!
My husband is on Keto. My 36 year old son was down for the weekend with the wife and 17 month old. He went out surfing in 43 degree weather and came back freezing. We might have gone through 18 eggs, 3 avocados, ham slices, 2 cups of cheese, 4 types of breads, and 14 cups of coffee this morning.
The one-egg omelette?
Social media has been good to you!!
We get 48 for £9 from a friend whose parents have a farm. They're amazing.
Look at you eating egg and rubbing our plebs nose in it. 🤣
My hens are hatching 6 to 8 eggs a day now....I feel rich!
There’s a black market for eggs these days 😂
My dogs would be unhappy they like cooked eggs.
No more eggs for you if you aren’t a millionaire!!! 🤬🤬🤬
Instead of gold nuggets, I am now calling them butt nuggets.
🤣🤣🤣
We call eggs "gold" in my house.
I pay $3.00 a dozen from a local farmer. Talk about feeling like a millionaire….
I shared my scrambled eggs with my dog and if that isn’t love, I don’t know what is.
I suspect these days, that’s SO status.
I felt like I should save mine for a special occasion. Looking at obituaries is tiring. I'll just eat the damn eggs, like a millionaire.
Would have been a REAL flex if you added that S on the end. You’re still a woman of the people in my book.
Need a 2nd mortgage for a 4 egg omelet? 🥚🥚🥚🥚
Without science institutions to do research these problems are going get worse, guess ensuring the safety of food isn’t cost efficient.
Hahaha!
Lol!😅
I’m guarding mine like the mint.
I had two. Oh right I'm Canadian.
Or you're Canadian. Eggs in muffins, eggs in crêpes, eggs for French toasts, omelet, soufflé, etc.
It's amazing how fast karma moves!
I added some extra egg whites to mine for some razzle dazzle. Felt cute, thought I’d drop a hundy on breakfast.
if i keep taking one egg out of my migas ima wind up cooking pico de gallo and cheese.
Now would be a good time to become a vegan.
Perfect. Becoming a millionaire at the expense of someone else does not sit well on my stomach.
Price of eggs is being blamed on bird flu. However, we don’t see trump’s government trying to find a cure. Just look at worm brain RFK jr.
Seems like that, doesn't it? When did we ever think that eggs would be so expensive that some people wouldn't be able to afford them? Coffee, yes. I remember when I was much younger and coffee prices skyrocketed and my mom switched all of us to T.
Quiche is out of the question.
I used one in my dinner and felt guilty 😂
Imagine living in a non-HOA neighborhood where you can have your own chickens (and cheap eggs). And install solar panels.
Tell me about. Just made a batch of egg salad!! What was I thinking?!?
That's just plain extravagance. 😉
Don't you mean eggstravagance?
I totally missed that!😂
The feeling richer effect.
That’s how I felt when my wife told me to get 2 dozen…
$11.99 for 12 eggs today. 💀
Across the border, in Canada, a dozen eggs cost $2.62. Canada has bird flu, too. It’s not the bird flu. It’s greed. Greed is not good. Greed is one of the 7 Deadly Sins.
We made eggs sardou at home for brunch this morning. I felt hella bougie. It also crossed my mind that it may be my last meal since the eggs are poached. I was ok with that.
I actually stopped and did think about using an egg to make some boxed cornbread - counted my eggs....😆 Locally we are going at $6 a doz.
limit.. 4 eggs per week. the government ordered over half the chickens killed last fall. to orevent birdflu killing humans.. in 2023. birdflu killed 10 humans worldwide.. in 2024. bird flu killed 3 humans worldwide.
Or a Canadian.
Flaunting your wealth is uncouth 😑
Was it painful laying it?
We get all of our eggs for free from a local Amish friend. They eat about a dozen a day themselves. (Typical large family to feed).
Unless they take the necessary precautions, avian flu can get to Amish chickens, too 😉 If the flock encounters the droppings of infected birds, it can be infected.
Yep. They're keeping a close eye on things. The chickens are kept in a roost for the most part, but wild birds can get in if they try. With all of the Amish Dairy Farms up here, they are really vigilant. And the state comes in on a regular basis testing since all of their products are organic.
We're having all our eggs frozen.
Holy cow what were u thinking?!? I have to save mine for my grandson and my dog.
We made bacon and egg biscuits. They are golden. We felt like we won the lottery. Was afraid to drop an egg on accident. 😂. Don’t want to waste any for sure
I made 2 fried eggs then they stuck to the pan. I almost cried but I was able to save them.
I wouldn’t flash that around if I were you.
😀
Wait we are supposed to eat them?!?! I thought they were like stocks and they gain value over time? Is that not how they work?
I bought a dozen eggs yesterday and was relieved my card wasn’t declined…
😂 LMAO, Good one Jess! It's not really funny, however, it is important to keep our sense of humour, eh! 😊 Ian.
😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣
Too funny 😂 I'm glad I don't eat eggs
Gangster
Sure it was not goose eggs...?
I... also did this..
Had the most expensive breakfast burritos I’ve ever made this morning.
So did we…..3 eggs fur hubby…two for me….but then….we do live in Canada….eggs are affordable here…
We won't have to worry much longer with RFK in charge of DHHS. Bird flu doesn't play around, and it's spreading with the resources fighting it *now*, let alone once he guts the dept and puts his idiotic ideas as policy.
I bought an 18pk for under $8 the other day and the only way I got them that cheap was the fact that they're liquid and in a carton. I felt so fancy.
Hahahaha Jess, good one. I just quit eating eggs because I see Trumps face on every one of them.
Still £2.50 for a dozen eggs here in the UK We have avian flu here, but our government are doing a much better job of containment And we are not feeding chicken waste to cattle* * We made the unsafe cattle feed mistake in the past and are not repeating it
We are repeating it lmao mad cow coming right up
Sainsbury's cheapest "Stamford Street" brand is £1.74 for 10 mixed size free range eggs (490g). Labelled as free range, RSPCA approved.
Ooohhhhh! Special occasion?
I reduced my 2 egg sammy to 1 egg... Tough times.
I made TWO 👀
That’s funny, Jess
But only one?
Us too, we used five!
You got eggs! You are! 🥰👍👍🤗
Some of the eggs are $4.99 at our local Turnip Truck specialty store while the Kroger store is out. 🤔
Somebody is enjoying their generational wealth!
😂😂😂enjoy
Funny!
SW Missouri here, I just bought two dozen eggs instead of my normal carton of 18 because of the geniuses at my local store had the dozen priced less than half of the carton of 18! 24 for over a dollar less than 18. 🥴
Eggs sound good rn ngl
I compounded my showing off, by adding Pensey’s Sunny Paris. Liberally.
I used 3 from our supply for the fam breakfast ( added water to increase the amount. Didn't have milk). I feel like Elaine...
I made a four egg omelette this morning. It’s okay, I paid the surcharge
LOL
This year we decided to hide money rather than eggs for Easter lol. Do they have an egg safe for the fridge yet?
😅 Eggs in Canada $3.79 a dozen and that's Canadian funds... ps, no shortages
No bird flu?
Not that I heard of. We export a lot of eggs to the Carribean too It might be a matter of time and we will get nailed by the bird flu
We have it here, but with supply chain management, it means that we avoid price spikes. We have slightly higher prices by a couple of cents throughout the year. It also means farmers know how much to produce and what prices to expect when they sell their eggs. It is great for affordability. 🇨🇦
👍👍
I made two. Baa hahahaa
Watch #number24 on #Netflix #eggs #quislings
Congratulations 🍾 you paid off the layaway!! Or should I say layawEGG
A pauper like me has to separate the yoke just for a 2 for 1 illusion
😂
Bet private ownership of chickens is about to explode.
😂
I made scrambled with andouille yesterday and today I made a beautiful coconut cream pie…tomorrow it’s Costco for more!!
I was at Costco yesterday and there were 0 eggs. Get there early.
Don't buy the street eggs; they are laced with something.
i used 4!
I thought chickens made the egg. 🤔
Move on, Jess. The egg thing is getting old.
You know, I don't think people realised they wanted eggs before they couldn't afford them.
They taste better since I don't take them for granted.
I eat fabrige eggs for breakfast
Faberge eggs 😄
God bless deeej
I dropped an egg on the floor and instead of me cleaning it up with a rag and soap I took a spatula and scooped it up and threw it in the frying pan dog hair dirt and all.
I feel that!😂
Is that…wise? With that bird flu going around, I’m kind of afraid to touch our eggs. You know the ones that have to be refrigerated because they are so diseased from inhumane living conditions they have to be washed first.
Well the price of eggs in Ontario Canada is $3.93 a dozen. I eat eggs probably too many times in a week.
To understand how insanely expensive Eggs have become. My city lives with a low standard of living. But eggs even in my small town, population of less than 9000 or so people. Cost 6.30$ USD for only 12??? Not including tax may I mind you.
Just one? Lol
lol
I had 2! My husband had 2. We decided to live it up while we can.
It’s too expensive 😭 I’m a student and I need good source of proteins for affordable prices… Can you recommend me something?
I don’t dare even hard boil them anymore! Breaking just one costs money and emotional distress.
Breakfast Toast and a hardboiled egg, I felt like Mark Cuban.
I just put two eggs in a banana bread.
yes James. I will take my "omelette du'fromage" on the Lanai this morning. please keep the "wretched refuse yearning to be free" screams to a minimum. that'll be all James
Gratitude is a spiritual practice that heals yourself and the collective. 😊 One thing to come out of this mess may be more tendencies to be grateful for simple things.
one of the reasons I'm vegan. Up with aquafaba!
Lol, I cooked 6 eggs this morning and felt super rich for a minute or two
Did you win the lottery, per chance?
😂☝️
I froze some to have a backup just in case. Egg substitute prices will probably rise because of increased demand.
Wow, I never thought of that! What a problem that needs a resolution! I am tired of hearing him blame it on Joe Biden!💙🇺🇸
I eat eggs every morning sometimes for dinner. It has gotten more expensive but still cheaper than most meats. Luckily a friend has been helping me out with elk meat.
I got a bit depressed last night when I pulled one out of the carton and just the top of the shell came off. 😥
🤣 🤣 🤣 🤣
I had 2 eggs yesterday and felt spoiled.
Every time I return from the hen house with 3 eggs
I cherish every egg I cook now.
I made my kid an egg-in-the-middle this morning. That’s one spoiled 4yo. A little Richie Rich over here.
I had french toast, felt the same.
I just laughed out loud!!
LOL Queen Jess😂
I must be a billionaire… I’m making quiche! 🤣
🤯 I paid that price for 60 & it traumatized my 13yo.
At some point thats price gouging. No reason to be that high when we pay around $6 a dozen in MO.
Have you ever been to Alaska?
Oh nooooo.
Have you ever been to another country?
We went to Canada to see the falls on their side. That’s it. Want to go to Ireland. Just never made it. Been to a lot of states but not HI, AK or PNW or North eastern states.
What does that have to do with anything?
Why are you being so mean to me? I do t watch Fox ever. Because I live in Mo? You assume I am surrounded by all white people and know no other races of people? What’s the deal? This started with the price of eggs.
Getting educated on how people in the world live their lives will open up your mind. Get away from your comfort zone.
I thought this was about the price of eggs. I would love to travel if I could afford it.
Go to someplace where there’s no white people.
We're envious!!!
Look at you being all bougie!! I hope you made it a whole event with fancy clothes and gold tableware.
I just used two to make cornbread earlier and felt sort of bougie.
Same! It felt positively decadent!
I made two eggs, like a fricken billionaire.
I’ve been craving an egg salad sandwich. My son accused me of being boujee. 😂😂😂
Aren’t chickens dirty, though?
Not if they are not over crowded. I wouldn’t have them in the house but I really enjoy them. I have only had chickens about a year. I clean the coop every Saturday and that is plenty. Plus I enjoy gardening and they make plenty of compost
Thank you, Jesse. I’m seriously considering getting a few chickens.
Definitely worth looking into. I get such a kick out of them.
Unfortunately we have an HOA. They don't even like "buildings" in the backyard. I'm sure chickens would be a no-go.
Bummer. Some places ban chickens but don’t say anything about quail. It’s a Work around. Eggs r small but small birds are better than no birds. In my opinion.
I have a friend that raises quail. He’s the one to tell me about the work around. Apparently it works depending on the ordinances
Not unless you are. We clean our coops once a month and use their poop in our garden -- it makes fantastic fertilizer!
It’s funny but I consider chicken poop one of the perks of owning chickens!! I am so ready for spring
We've had 16-foot-tall tomato plants thanks to chicken poop. It's the best fertilizer I've ever used.
That’s great had my main garden dug up last spring to replace a sewer line so I lost all the topsoil I spent years spreading compost on. It’s back to mostly red clay
And US Brits with our lack of freedom of speech and Islamist government have eggs one third of the price of US eggs.
I had bacon with mine and felt like a millionaire too!
you made what
My son, who came down to breakfast after his sister, wanted to know what I had made her for breakfast. I told him she asked for peanut butter toast and scrambled eggs, because "she's bougie." LOL! 🤣 Oh... I have to laugh or I cry 🤣😅😭
Eggcellent.
I had two bantam eggs this morning, scrambled and used to make a ham and cheese omelet. We have chickens. 😊
🤣🤣👏
Not to brag, but I bought a dozen. Of course now I have to figure out how to pay the phone bill but whatever.
Scrambled like the rest of American society and the world?
Eggs have always been underappreciated.
bsky.app/profile/lori...
I put an egg wash on my chicken pot pie. I felt rich rich
I bought a carton of 18 at Costco and am saving them for a special occasion. What that occasion is- I don’t yet know.
I've got 2 in the fridge I'm saving for a special occasion!
HaRrr!
🤜 💰 🥚 🤛
That mentality only applies if you scrambled it.
Nah. It was just one. You are upper middle class.
I made breakfast for dinner last week complete with half a dozen eggs. My son said, "It feels wrong to be just casually eating eggs." The bacon used to be expensive part of breakfast for dinner. :(
Well, I guess it will be a different Easter in America this year, painted plastic egg hunt, chocolate eggs only, does anyone else with any ideas?
Cocoa prices are going up too 😳 I like the potato idea someone else in comments mentioned. Maybe this dystopian hellscape will break our children (and ourselves rlly) from sugar addiction😝✌🏾 abcnews.go.com/amp/GMA/Food...
Saw painted potatoes.
I used 3, and my son has chickens. I guess that makes him my favorite!
I made an omelette thinking the same!!
You're worth a million.....
🤣🤣🤣
Lol
This post got me all yolked up
What a luxury 😏
I have 6 chickens and they’re old and it’s very cold and snowy here in N Michigan, but one of my hens has been laying an egg every other day for the last 6-7 weeks. Kind of unusual but I thank her and somehow she knew it would be a kind gesture🐓
😂🩵
We had eggs for the last two mornings... it's like we're setting $100 bills on fire.
Eggs are still same price in Canada. You should come here.
Imagine a three egg omelette!
I only made eg
🤣
OMG
I dropped one and I had to take out a 2nd on the house to cover it. But hey, at least the name of the Gulf of Mexico was changed.
I wasted egg this morning like I'm some sort of billionaire But I have chickens. And fed my left overs to my dog.
Deciding how to ration our last dozen before we give them up. Not worth it.
lol right living the high life. But gas prices are low!
Egg, singular rather than eggs, plural!
I thought I was unlucky as a child getting burnt toast. Now a 6 pack of eggs in my house usually goes past the expiration date as I go for the toast.
😂😂😂
Thanks for the tip!
😁💖
our 5 backyard hens are suddenly almost worth their keep.
I scrambled an entire dozen like a crazy person
I paid 4.99 at Wegmans last week. Free range.
Had 2 yesterday.
Sooooo the reason Egg prices have gone up is because Bird Flu has been ravaging farms. The agencies that we need to support are Agriculture and Fish & Wildlife. Bird Flu has shown transferable to cows, so don't drink RAW MILK. Avoid giving pets eggs and if you have any flu symptoms stay home.
Bird Flu has not shown to easily transfer from people to people. However the risk of it merging with the regular Flu is possible, so if you have symptoms quarantine is a must. And if you have symptoms avoid others with symptoms as well. Pasteurized eggs & milk are safe, but the price rise.
This is something that will effect prices regardless of who's in charge. Domesticated Animals & Pets have show susceptibility so watch your pets & take them to the vet if they show symptoms.
Trump stuck a plastic straw in a raw egg and SUCKED. Billionaire Breakfast In Bed.
i say let them rot on the shelves and that price will come down to really
I keep the 3 I have left in a double locked safe...😒
😂
Egg! Ha!
I made sourdough waffles this morning for my family and the two eggs in the recipe were the most expensive part.
As a person living in actual abject poverty, STFU. 😐 Go fight.
I made a back-alley deal with Girl Scouts of America. 3 boxes of thin mints for a dozen eggs. The thin mints seem to have ⅓ fewer calories this year due to having ⅓ fewer cookies. 🤔, I wonder if I should have asked for 4 boxes?
Dude you got fleeced... Those cookies cost $1.22 a box, to buy from Dare. The Girl Scouts are ruthless! 😂
LoL 😆. 6 bucks a box here. I'm ok with that proceeds going to a good cause.
Eggsactly! Haha. But that is a good point, supporting local causes and businesses is always good. We need that now more than ever.
I know I had 3 soft boiled eggs the other day and felt decadent 😁
So hard tl find! 💵
I bought 3 Egg Beaters a couple of weeks ago, it was the same price of eggs but a much longer expiration date. They have already doubled in value. Great investment! I’m thinking about making a nice big quiche later.
im in canada - i had 4 eggs at breakfast yesterday and today
Uhhh my Canadian Brother 😂😂😂
😂
Oh Canada 🇨🇦 🫡🥚 🥚🥚🥚🥚🥚🥚🥚🥚🥚🥚🥚🥚🥚🥚🥚🥚🥚🥚🥚🥚🥚🥚🥚🥚🥚🥚🥚🥚🥚🥚🥚🥚🥚🥚🥚🥚🥚🥚🥚🥚🥚🥚🥚🥚🥚🥚🥚🥚🥚🥚🥚🥚🥚🥚🥚🥚🥚🥚🥚🥚🥚🥚🥚🥚🥚🥚🥚🥚🥚🥚🥚🥚🥚🥚🥚🥚
Hope your returning geese don't bring it with them 🫤
the biomass works in strange ways
We aren't yet seriously affected by this absurdity. Except, of course, the implicit threat of invasion. Release the Canada geese!
the egg thing is a big reason why each nation wants its own agriculture sector and pays for structural preferences for it - similarly i expect geothermal energy to really grow as its tech improves, so that nations can have heat and electricity without depending on petroleum from foreign nations
We wanted to go with geothermal when we built our house. Unfortunately, it wasn't possible. We're as close to net zero as we can be. Our place is plumbed for solar (YYC is very sunny). Most people do not understand that most of what makes life modern comes from oil. Let's not burn it.
right - i am thinking geothermal like fervo or eavor or other firms which are aiming for grid-level electricity, or industrial heating - iirc most new condo buildings in toronto now are including geothermal heating systems (alas, many older won't be retrofitted)
Solar, wind, geothermal. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Listen, those cobra chickens have taken over the golf course behind me. At least they don't roost in the woods behind me ! 🤣
Not the geese!!!!!!
My lovely (now sadly deceased) dachshund was the only creature (human, dog, cat, airplane) that I know who could get Canada geese to back down. Schnitzel was a force to be reckoned with.
Schnitzel 😂😂😂😂😂 I used to work at a place where the geese would terrorize you during your walk from the parking lot. We’d sit at a window at lunch and watch the carnage
did u ever see anyone wield a hockey stick vs a goose? that might work, esp if someone is skilled
Lol. I would pay to watch Sedins vs Geese.
No I don’t want the goose hurt! Why would you go there
Yarp, wiener Schnitzel. I used to live in LA. Peacocks were the major threat.
When I was a kid, we got a kitten and named him Weiner Schnizelpus 😂 "Snitty" ended up living for 20 years, and my mom still tears up when she mentions him. He was such a lovely kitty 🥹 with such a silly name.
Awwww! When ours did something bad, we called her a little Schnitt.
@barneygrubbs.bsky.social (I can't find Katy's bsky handle. I think that she would get a chuckle)
@katymgrubbs.bsky.social !
Thanks! I don't why Katy didn't show up as an option. There were benefits to the former place. Not enough to go back. Lordy, the peacocks during the outdoors performance of the LA philharmonic.
Awesome!
Pretty!!!
Nothing funnier than a grown man running in the street looking terrified as a couple of geese peck at him flapping their wings 😂😂😂😂😂
They really are dangerous.
I mean they don’t really hurt anyone, a peck is a hard pinch and sometimes a bruise but nobody dies. 😂😂😂 But the unmitigated joy of watching geese whoop our asses is pretty funny
They tried it. Ask Sully Sullenberger. Flight 1549 in 2009.
Lording your cheap eggs and universal healthcare over us like you're better than us? I mean, you are. And we're all envying you right now, but still...😂
I bet there were pancakes and maple syrup involved too. Living the dream up there.
I've been craving Blueberry pancakes with Blueberry syrup. I love Blueberries.
Make your pancakes with unsweetened apple sauce instead of eggs. It’s a binder like eggs and the pancakes are delicious!!
(In trump voice) “It’d be a shame if something were to happen to it”. :cracks knuckles:
