In Ontario we fund Catholic schools. But we get to choose where to send our taxes public or Catholic. Lots of religious private schools here. Those are a bigger concern.

The department of education isn’t involved with curriculum, their purpose is to make sure all American children have the opportunity for a free, basic education, regardless of race, religion or ability. They also help college students get grants and loans to help pay for their higher education.

The State Board of Ed already sets curriculum. The DOE has no curriculum. They provide resources & enforce the laws that ensure students w/disabilities or low income get an equitable education. Before the DOE, families payed for special education. Only the wealthy can afford that.
