I went to the Y in Chicago almost every day after school because I was a latchkey kid from a low income family, it was the best. This is sad.
As a former Head Start preschool teacher ages infant to pre k, I weep for the children. Head Start has been a target of the racists - GOP- for decades, they did everything to disparage it and cut it despite solid evidence that shows this work builds better communities.

They privatized our Head Start program in Frederick County MD a few years ago. Fired all the teachers and wanted to rehire them at lower rate of pay. Guess how that went? Now it’s unqualified underpaid “teachers” that staff it. Heartbreaking
I don't have to tell everyone that years of studies have shown that investing in early learning programs like head start contribute immeasurably to the expanded growth potential of children. This is disgusting when you consider we are one of the wealthiest countries in the world They want serfdom

I lived in several Midwestern states, including the KC metro. While local network affiliates have historically soft petaled these kinds of stories, it has gotten a lot worse. Same for IN and IA. They are all running scared of the new FCC commissioner. Disgusting cowardice.

My son’s daycare offers this program He’s been there for years and I’ve seen the great impact this program has on kids AND parents BUT Parents can’t drop their kids off until 9 am and must pick them up by 3 pm (very constricting) It is a great program but needs to be made BETTER not taken away
