So project 2025 has a plan, and are enacting it. DOGE has a plan, but don't actually understand what anything they are rooting around in does. So they are successful in some of the things they are doing, but not in others.

Trump has concepts of plans. So he is either happily signing whatever is put in front of him (based off of what Miller or others want), or being allowed to do the things he wants (tariffs) because there are no experts being consulted on what the results will be. And Trump is necessary for his cult.

Unfortunately, these various forces aren't counteracting each other as much as many hoped. Congress isn't protecting their own power. Many aren't thinking about the long term consequences, just that they will survive or are currently profiting.

Which is all to say, yes, this is totally insane. People who should know better are thinking we can get through the tariffs, without considering the loss of confidence. That we can just rehire. People don't recognize that research can't be turned on and off like flipping a switch.
