And the right accuses public school teachers of indoctrination.
🤣 Hubby teaches HS physics and science classes. Physics is life and science is practiced religiously in our house. So they may be right that he is trying to indoctrinate them into STEM jobs. 🤔😁
Rat bastards.
What happened to the separation of church and state? Is that not in effect any longer?
As of April 30 hearing, Scotus was evenly divided in St. Isadore v Drummond, with Coney Barrett recused. www.scotusblog.com/2025/04/supr...
I just hope the Republicans on the SC live long enough to see themselves destroyed from the fascism they let happen.
Thank goodness they have protection. They will always be safe.
Oh, and check the teacher pay at the private schools. That REALLY sucks. Where do you suppose all that money will go?
What happened to separation of church and state?? If people want to send their kids to religious schools fine. they should pay for it. Public schools should be free and secular.
Sad. Shocking. Expected. Every single day is a gut punch. Thank you for punching back 🙏
All white schools.
During the 2021-22 school year, public schools in Missouri received $2.4K per student from the federal government. I wonder, now that DOE is closing, and funding canceled, how will schools fare? usafacts.org/answers/what...
Stupid is as stupid does.
Bc they hate public education.
It’s simple, public schools don’t pay bribes.
Why are people not up in arms to get rid of this guy?
Yaknow, it was federal funding a religious school that gave us "separation of church and state" from from the anti-Catholic, former KKK member, #SCOTUS Hugo Black
No private school should ever be government funded, period.
I concur. And I homeschooled without government money for part of my kids education. I don’t have a problem with private education; it should be privately funded. 👍
Exactly. Every time I mention that, people whine about how much they love the local Catholic school. I remind them that the Catholic Church has more than enough money to fund all Catholic schools and they scoff. You can’t win with people who are indoctrinated.
I grew up as a Catholic. My parents always sent us to public schools because they thought the quality of the education was better. Hubby has taught in private in IL and public in MO. I homeschooled when we moved to AL; enough has been known about the education there to scare anyone to homeschool. 😬
You're subsidizing the wealthy now at the expense of your child.
🤬
Yup
Probably very little of that $50 million will go to teacher pay.
Yup Republican Jeezus said to
Republicans are corrupting the whole country!
It’s insulting to see these fundamental crazy Christians get into politics & be able to pour money into brainwashing kids & takeaway from public schools.
Good people need to leave the state of missouri. It's rotting from the core out.
“Our public schools are so bad because we haven’t been giving them any money so we don’t want to give them any money” 🙄
One of the most disturbing examples of pathological projection by MAGA heads is calling legitimate education indoctrination, while trying to replace it with actual indoctrination.
The state of Misery
So much for the "establishment clause". Now being RIPPED from our constitution.
Red state stupid.
They want to keep their kids religious slaves.
Jess, have you written about your experience as a teacher in Missouri? You’ve talked about being a teacher, but I would love to hear your thoughts on the struggles of teachers in a state that doesn’t really value teachers. You may have already done this and I’ve missed it. I just love your insight.
VWMO ( vote white men out.) They are destroying this country. Not all, but those white jerks in office need to get the boot.
Missouri Republicans can't clear highways of snow during snow storms. Missouri Republicans kicked 200,000 Kiddies off Medicaid because ending tax on Capital Gains is more important. How Prolife of Missouri Republicans.
Funneling tax dollars to their friends
JFC!
And guess who will get the scholarships??
Wow, Missouri really sucks. The politicians I should say.
It’s just Jim Crow modern day version!
And the rich get richer while the poor get poorer.
What part of "Private" School do people not Get... PRIVATE!?
Missouri sucks.
Literally a place I refuse to step foot in because they don’t deserve a dime of my money.
That's because they are in on the scam and a lot of that 50 million will find its way into Republican pockets.
Absurd
They really hate children.
Sad
Florida ranks 48th in teacher pay. It's not better here and we also have the voucher scam.
This is BS.
Christofascists
Yeah, that’s messed up. The majority in our legislature is comprised of total assholes.
Because they are pushing money into the hands of wealthy donors. Easy to do this when you know it will ultimately benefit your political aspirations even when it's at the detriment of your constituents.
All of your neighbor states are in the same shape. And full of ignorant, hateful Trump supporters. Oklahoma is just as bad if not worse.
Oklahoma is probably worse on education. I heard they’re trying to update the social studies curriculum to include Felon 45’s deranged conspiracy theories and lies about a stolen 2020 election. From one red state person to another, it’s scary where education is headed!
It is. Thankfully there is a legal challenge to that BS.
Welfare for the middle class. If they are going to privatize public education, then hold these religious institutions to the same mission - education for all, regardless of race, religion or creed and, especially, disability.
UTAH Republican Senators just sold you out. They gave a majority yes on selling off the recreational land we all use. First states for Sell off to privatize our recreational lands Nevada & Utah www.backcountryhunters.org/late_night_a...
I dont want to pay for that.
Vouchers for private school in MO are for any family of 4 at 300% above the poverty line which is $173,000. So do I divide by 3 to get the poverty line? If so, $57,667 is poverty line for family of 4. So all the teachers at some rural MO schools are in poverty???
Education is under attack theconversation.com/religious-ch...
Priorities 🤪
🤬
@budget.senate.gov @commerce.senate.gov #seriously #WTF bigots.
Using religious studies as a cloak to harm people you deem less than equal, disgusting + pathetic + Unamerican.
Isn’t weird when people vote AGAINST their OWN best interest to harm the, “others?”
The war on teachers continues
You’re worse than Alabama & Mississippi? That’s really BAD!
Ever the liars!
And no one with disabilities or differing religions will get a dime of it.
Bingo
How is this legal?
They use a go around. Educational scholarships.
Ohio legislators are cutting this year's budget in half for next year so they can fund charter schools - plus $600 million so that the Cleveland Browns can have a new stadium! lindacocuzzirichter.substack.com/p/school-fun...
That’s just very sad!! And yet on par for our government!
The Hillbilly Taliban found some money!
Horrific.
