And they *still* tried to block the will of the people after we voted for the Medicaid expansion! I was working in a union deli during COVID with zero health insurance and couldn't afford the marketplace bullshit working part-time at $13-15/hr.
And they *still* tried to block the will of the people after we voted for the Medicaid expansion! I was working in a union deli during COVID with zero health insurance and couldn't afford the marketplace bullshit working part-time at $13-15/hr.
Healthcare should be publicly operated and free at point of use. Anything less is a moral failure.
Universal healthcare. All the civilized nations have it.
I have insurance. Annual deductible 5200.00 through work my employer and I pay monthly before the deductible. My doctor calls it heart attack insurance. You only use it when a major illness strikes while insurance CEO's live fat cat lives.
👏👏👏
As a European, I simply can't understand why you don't have public and free healthcare everywhere for everyone. 4 years ago, I underwent a small surgery that became slightly bigger. I paid 10€ because I wanted to sleep in a single bedroom. In a double one it would have been 100% free.
Yes. I know someone in a similar position. It was a huge relief.
But apparently only Billionaires matter.
Still. Paying 500 is mental. It does not cost that much for healthcare. Period. Norway spend 10% of GDP on healthcare. The US gov 21%. And still you have such prices to pay pr month?! It would be so much cheaper to give everyone free healthcare and form public hospitals. Cheaper for everyone.
It's madness.
Jess you can talk until you turn blue but these people are pure EVIL and they have money so they don’t care. 🤬
This is a really good point.
9-years ago I tried to go the same route, couldn't afford the policy, so I went uninsured had a full on heart attack, I learned the weirdest thing. Because I wasn't a US citizen, I obviously wasn't Medicaid eligible but as a non-citizen could negotiate on price but that it was illegal for citizens.
It allowed me to come out on top... It was cheaper to have a heart attack and negotiate than it was to buy insurance to cover the hospital fees. Totally mad.
Fun fact. Citizens can get a break, too. If you're unable to pay the hospital will negotiate with you. They sometimes understand something is better than nothing. A grad school friend who is a US citizen had a medical issue they couldn't afford during grad school. The hospital settled for 10%.
Interestingly I was told that once you were a citizen it was illegal under the state Medicaid laws to do this. you are in essence forced through Medicaid and go through the spend down process which in essence strips you of your assets when you get sick .
My long dead ex had a stroke with no insurance. He SCORED. Negotiated costs and got to stay in the hospital longer so recovered better
Hospitals are going to be forced to close down. Poorer rural areas will be affected the most.
please use Alt text when sharing images like this and make them accessible to all
And yet republicans were reelected all across Missouri. Sad, very sad…
I get so furious with red states for not expanding it. There is a crisis of hospital closings in rural US. This will devastate them.
In large percentages rural America voted for djt. They preferred racism hatred revenge & misogyny to affordable healthcare a lowering cost of living & basic decency.
Not all of them voted for him. My basic decency does not want to see anyone suffer.
You can kiss that goodbye
I'm in exactly the same situation... I mean I'm actually in a little bit of a better situation because Colorado has a good marketplace but because of many pre-existing conditions I'm assuming within the next six months or so I'll be SOL
Luckily I live in California, we have MediCal. I have 4 pre existings
THINK it's any BETTER living in Calif🤷♀️ NOT⁉️ I am 100% disabled by surgical error⁉️ I needed help in home sometimes,we applied for my spouse to be my in home care. They said we maid to much money⁉️ How⁉️ Me:Disability benefit Him:Retired on SS his a Veteran 5k spend dn⁉️ @ericswalwell.bsky.social
Not to mention how many hospitals exist because of it and would close without it.
By expanding the ACA
@reed.senate.gov @whitehouse.senate.gov @magaziner.house.gov This government hates Americans.
The thief in FL has turned down the Medicaid money, too, while filling his pockets. Beyond my comprehension how he got reelected.
Australian and I have a pulse. I'm eligible for public health care for most things and have private cover for other stuff.
Sorry you went through this. Check out federally justified health centers in your area as well. Its a sliding scale.
I'm baffled why states are allowed to deny Medicaid to their people and STILL get elected.
@papst-ny.bsky.social
Yes to you and supporting Medicare/medicaid, But also, our healthcare is so crazy messed up way beyond all that. Let the Republicans destroy what we have so we can build the actual thing that works instead of trying to perpetuate this thing that’s failed me all century.
Like, forest fire to make way for new growth. The old system wasn’t working. What this administration wants, and everyone adjacent to it, is dumb as hell and a million times worse… but what we had before was also not working for most people. I’m one of them who was left behind by Dems too.
Republicans build nothing. They don't know how. They are literally made up in majority of media talking heads.
Yea, they actual seem kind of proud of their ignorance and their inability to think critically.
💯
Yes, it’s a proudly waved MAGA banner.
It’s creepy how if your logic starts to crack their belief they come at you with something about how they won’t let you manipulate them, or won’t allow your fear to control them. Belief really can do a number on the mind.
Reptilian
With how bold they are with lying, I’m surprised they haven’t just flat out started saying that the earth is being invaded by lizardmen, and it just so happens that it’s all the people Trump doesn’t like that are lizardmen, and to save the planet they have to stop all the Dems disguised as them.
Republicans and I mean ALL republicans, are in congress to represent the rich and to keep their money machine going! Bottom line! Republicans must be voted out!
That’s such a powerful example thanks for sharing it. Medicaid expansion really does have ripple effects that help everyone, not just those who qualify directly. Lower marketplace premiums are one of the hidden benefits people don’t always realize.
I hope all of your Republicans friends remember all this crap they are shoving down our throats. We MUST get rid of every Republican in Congress. They are simply complicit in this cruelty.
$500 is still ridiculous, but I get your point.
Health care should be guaranteed and free to everyone! It’s a human right! I shouldn’t go bankrupt due to a heart attack or cancer or diabetes!!! Literally in an urgent clinic dreading the $300+ bill I’m going to get. Health insurance is a scam!
☎️ No cuts to MEDICARE ‼️1-202-224-3121🇺🇸🦅☎️ ☎️1-202-224-3121 ☎️1-202-224-3121 ☎️🇺🇸💯 Medicare for all so no one is stuck in a job with crappy boses!! Self employment would be heaven on earth!!🌍
It won't if Big Beautiful passes.
Uninsured people needing medical care also causes everyone else’s insurance to increase. So if doing the right thing isn’t a motivator maybe personal financial gain would be
Son is an aerospace engineer. Lost his job, thanks, DOGE. Had many interviews; all managers said, “The gov’t is erratic now. We don’t know if we’re getting funding or contracts.” He decided to apply for grad school but meanwhile he’s on MediCal. Pro-life means taking care of the living
Had the Medicaid expansion not happened when it did, I would have had to choose between not being able to afford my house or not having insurance.
Pleading with Republicans to do the right thing for their state is Orwellian They’re Drunk on Fascism
You probably will lose it now after this big beautiful bill passes
My ACA policy is over $900/month for the bronze (turd) level coverage. I have a $9400 annual out-of-pocket deductible. I'm limited to a 100 mile radius of coverage in a very "narrow band" network of providers. Praying Medicare will be there late next year when I finally qualify
Except the taxpayer paying the bills.
Muting now. Liked your posts but sick of not seeing alt text.
June 14th is very big! We MUST come out in numbers too big to count! Hundreds of marches across the country with more added daily. www.nokings.org?SQF_SOURCE=i... NO ONE IS COMING TO SAVE US! Keep making phone calls & writing emails! Boycott! MARCH! All of us together can make a difference!
💯💯💯
When I first retired my insurance through ACA was going to be $700 a month with a $7,000 deductible--so all services would be paid out of pocket until I hit $7,000...medicare is better, monthly $500.00 a month and $300 deductible.
That's why I had to stop buying exchange policies a few years ago and take my employer's expensive PPO plan. The Texas exchange was offering policies that covered less for more and more $$ every year because they still refuse to expand Medicaid. Because Obama, as far as I can tell. Dumbasses.
If they had a universal health plan this wouldn’t be a problem! But hey gotta pay the grifters!
Only as long as they do better by not overriding doctors diagnoses and treatments. I think there need to be laws that prevent bureaucrats from making medical decisions.
@lazytato.bsky.social
You think that MAGAs have the ability to figure that out? They don’t but more importantly they don’t give a damn about this country and the citizenry.
ahh yes unintended consequences - wait until you see the cost of prescription drugs sky rocket as the cuts to medicaid dampens the demand for products - Trumpy cannot repeal the law of supply and demand by EO😇
I found out some state owned hospitals do not accept Obamacare/marketplace insurance. They only accept employer sponsored insurance or Medicare/Medicaid. So even if one can afford marketplace insurance, it’s useless. Want to check hospital etc that one usually goes to just to make sure first.
👏👏👏
I have a $500 ACA plan in Missouri and it’s terrible
Exactly. These low price plans actually suck. They’re like a tax on poverty.
And when they cut it, folks who thought they would be able to be insured are in for a devastating surprise.
Pre-Obamacare that same self employed insurance would have cost you $1200 to 1800.00. As long as you did not have a pre-existing condition. I was listed as having a pre-existing condition in 2004, my insurance went to $3200. I still have no idea what my "condition" is
That sucks!
4 years ago I paid $350 for my 22 year old daughter. I moved to Amsterdam and pay $40 less than that for both my wife and I. Difference is single payer. That's it. Its still private insurance.
There’s not that available in Texas unfortunately. Our Governor refused it.
Same here Jess. Now we'll be paying $1,200 again.
🎯
Thank you! IF people understood the importance of medicaid expansion and its relationship to insurance premiums for everyone! When your State refuses to increase the %FPL for qualifying they raise premiums. ACA expanded/allowed 4x or 400% for premium assistance. thefinancebuff.com/federal-pove...
Half of seniors in nursing homes are paid for by Medicare. If that’s gone, who will care for bedridden seniors? Are you going to stay home and change your mom’s diapers?
This is another aspect that I think people lose sight of. I think many people will be forced out of running their own businesses or having to go back into workplaces that they have desire being a part of because of this legislation. I have a thriving private practice in therapy. With this? Gone
The rat bastards will undo everything that helps regular people. If you aren't rich better get ready for war because they are going to stop until they are dead.
The sad truth is in this country the wealthier you are the better healthcare you get. That's a travesty. That's inhumane. Plain cruelty.
This was always the case.
CAGOP California GOP prison industry passed the bill to take it away health. Hoping sick people bring crime rates up. Crime = cash to a gop system of governing .
But $billionaires need more incentives … Hasn’t their racist, misogynist, hate-driven propaganda worked on you yet?
I hate to tell you this, but that’s what Trump’s gonna cut out of Medicaid
And the MAGA GOP wishes we would all go away quietly, like good little serfs.
I’m fortunate I never had to rely on Food Stamps or Medicaid. I’ve paid taxes for 51 years and I am happy that my tax dollars helped those who needed these programs. What have we become as a nation. Jesus said it best. “Whatever you do for the least of my brothers and sisters, you do for me.”
Biden and Congress also did a lot of things to strengthen the Marketplace.
My husband is self employed and I was a building substitute for a local public school. Without marketplace (ACA) we would have been paying over 2k a month for our family but thankfully got subsidized to pay $780. Before ACA existed, we were denied heath insurance coverage due to pre-existing cond.
$500 is still insane. But yes we need healthcare for all. Now Hawley is out fight for Medicaid and for he reelection
Hawley was just reelected — he’s not running for another 5 years
Oh yeah. I didn’t vote for him I voted for Kunce. So let’s see how he actually votes. Thanks for the reminder. I hate our senators. But Hawley can redeem himself a little if he follows through. Not much though. Now our other senator just hired a Nazi. Who was fired from DeSantis for being a Nazi
Was really hoping Kunce could pull it off. Supported his campaign
Me too. He was actually the perfect candidate for southern MO. They just could vote for a democrat
This is an example of why we need national universal healthcare. The current for profit system needs to go and be replaced with Medicare for All.
1st party that accomplishes this will be the PARTY OF THE PEOPLE⁉️💯 When we get our COUNTRY back from the brink😕 THIS is what MUST HAPPEN! 👍💯🤷♀️🤔😉 ⚖💙⚖ Then we will have the power of COLLECTIVE BARGAINING & make Healthcare AVAILABLE for ALL it's CITIZENS! #justicematters #humanrights remember that?
We must have #MedicareForAll
Don’t forget to call your Senators this week to strip the Medicare/medicaid/SNAP cuts out of the spending bill that the House Republicans passed. If we don’t get vocal, they will think they can do as they please without consequence, or worse, that the cuts are what the majority wants! Please call!
Medicare for all would be even better.
My experience as a single member PLLC in IL as well. I help people with disabilities and their families and can't afford insurance without the ACA.
So true... Life has it's own side
Turned 65 and my Medicare is $250 more per month than my previous insurance. I’m self-employed. Grrr
What? The Medicare Part B premium is only $185 per month. Have you not got 40 quarters of coverage so you are also paying for Part A?
$185 is the base. It goes up if you make more money. My husband and I each pay about $350, plus our medigap plan of $200 per month each.
I'm still working and apparently making too much money, so my premium's $537/month.
My part A is pulled from my social security & my supplement is $127 a month but going up in a few months. When I retired, the school system no longer subsidized our monthly premium & I was paying almost $800 a month until 65 yrs. I do pay for dental but not vision. So far Medicare is great.
I am self-employed. No health insurance costs Just had 3 major medical tests & will be having surgery, all at no cost During my recovery I will have EI benefits because I belong to a govt program that assists small business owners at a time like this
I call bullshit I am also a small business owner have been for over 20 yrs still can’t get a policy for my family that covers us with no cost they want me to pay over 1200$ a month for three people with a 10,000 deductible 60$ copays and will only cover HALF of emergency visits!?
So this just might be a manipulation by the insurance lobby to in the end raise prices?? That tracks 🤬
Not anymore
Medicare for all would still save more money
Anything other than National Healthcare costs more than National Healthcare.
Taking money away from poorer people and giving it to rich people tanks the economy. Rich people hoard it whereas poorer people have to spend it on necessities. We know this to be true because of the huge effect on the economy of even small stimulus checks.
You forget that the Biden administration also passed a program to cut prices on the exchange by about half. Over 14 million more people were able to get health insurance thanks to Pres Biden. Guess what t is going to do with that program
Even tho you're still paying way too much
Congressmen can represent their constituents if we make our voices loud and call every day so they know we’re not lazy and complacent. Tell them you do not accept cuts for the majority to pay more for the already obscenely wealthy!!
We should have free health care in this country period. We pay enough taxes for that and much more.
You pay taxes to make sure billionaires don’t pay taxes. Truth…
That’s exactly right and why the middle class is shrinking every year. The gap between the wealthiest and the middle class has grown, with a larger share of income being concentrated at the top.
It is so enraging that you have to explain this to some people. And that they still don’t understand or care. Our medical system will collapse all around them and they still won’t get it.
Now try universal healthcare!
not anymore
Wow.. even 500 is bizarro. Americans are conditioned to accept this as having it good too.
Do you think it's possible Trump's motive is to destroy Republicans in retaliation for something. I can't think of any other possible reason for this administration's acts that do nothing but destroy working Americans. This is crazy.
tRump threw ROCKS at a sleeping baby when he was a kid. He LOVES inflicting pain. He LOVES to destroy. He is SICK.
Also, there's a little known government agency that provides excellent healthcare, multiple sites in each state. They are called "federally qualified healthcare centers" FQHCs. I worked for one called Central Florida Health Care. Sliding scale fees and excellent care plus discounted prescriptions
You’re very lucky. In Texas, my Medicare supplement plan F went up by $40/month. A business insurance plan for my SO who isn’t on Medicare yet is over $1700 a month. House insurance skyrocketed as did auto. Taxes are through the roof. It’s becoming unaffordable to live in Texas. Land of greed.
Human beings thrive when we cooperate, but, sociopaths in power keep choosing division and war instead.
Good Luck!!!! Grassroots working Americans
Thanks for the info. Let us know what happens after you try to use it. Hint: You'll get denied, even when you reach you $8000 deductible.
Just shows good things can and do happen if we all work together, which is why it was so dumb for us to have allowed ourselves to be divided along ideological lines. Unless your born with the Silver Spoon in your mouth, we all live from the same place, out pocketbook, which just gets smaller.
We must keep fighting against this regime! We will all eventually lose our rights if we don’t fight now!
Medicaid/medicare helps everyone!
Medicare is Federal for Aged, Blind, Disabled or Retired. Medicaid is state for people living at poverty level, aged, blind or disabled.
The budget will hit the 'Medicaid' expansion. It is FOR the 'WORKING' poor. If Health insurance cost wasn't obscene, or if we had 'Medicaid for All', it'd not be necessary. But note, WORKING poor. Many times it's full time, whether with one job or more. (Side gigs).
Right. In CA 40% of people are on Medicaid. In the richest state in the country with more billionaires than anywhere else. CA needs to develop something of their own. Instead they worry about the $10 million+ homes in Pacific Palisades.
💯 %
'MEDICAID EXPANSION'. A provision in the ACA calls for the expansion of Medicaid eligibility to cover more low-income Americans. Under the guidelines, Medicaid eligibility is extended to adults under age 65 with incomes up to 138% of the federal poverty level/FPL (133% plus a 5% income disregard).
Don’t forget Medicaid provides medical services for millions of veterans. It also ensures Medical care is available for rural areas. I just couldn’t imagine the richest in the US could be so greedy and the middle class voter be so fooled.
We voted for expansion in Maine, too. Our then R governor pos did everything he could to stop it.
That’s exactly why those cock sucking vampires hate it and will destroy it. Stay healthy or be ready to take your life when necessary. My grandmother taught me how.
They don’t care.
Kristi Noemskull rejected Medicaid help and then said if you are single. No matter how broke you are, on your deathbed if you apply for Medicaid and hit the single button it’s an automatic rejection. She just so nice isn’t she?
Not just medicaid, they want to cut Medicare www.instagram.com/reel/DJ60-Bc...
It's ONLY because we forced them. And by including the stipulation that an end to federal funding would not reverse Medicaid expansion, meaning Jeff City would have to pay, is the ONLY reason Awful Hawley gives a damn and opposes Medicaid cuts.
Not for long We won't remove Trump Amendment 25 him He's criminally insane with violent dementia for real
I'm sorry, maybe it's cause I'm Canadian but $500 a month still seems a ridiculous amount to have to pay... I hope somehow you get rid of Trump and get a party in that will give you universal medical
The very best health insurance in Asia is like 200USD per month It’s the same companies and plans as Americans
One of the side effects of cutting Medicaid that isn't mentioned..is the " buy back in the Social Security program...where if you have a low monthly income..state Medicaid pays the part C cost of your Medicare, currently at $ 181 a month, I believe .
Part C is not Medicare. It’s the advantage program and is private insurance.
You're trying to split hairs. Parts C and D , while gained thru Medicare Advantage, ARE indeed considered Medicare. Google it .
Part c and d don’t go together. Part c is advantage and is not Medicare it is private insurance. Companies market it as Medicare but it is not. It is paid with Medicare $ Also if you go with advantage you are not guaranteed to be able to return to Medicare. Ask the right questions!
Again, splitting hairs. These private companies have a contract with Medicare to provide the additional services, like vision, dental, and hearing, and prescription drug coverage that Medicare doesn't cover, plus the 20 % of total billing that parts A and B would not cover.
The Advanage plans, which you claim are not Medicare, are shown, and provided thru Medicare, and the Medicare handbook. It's very simple , you can either buy private insurance..or you can participate in Medicare advantage..but ONLY if you are on Medicare.
I was on an advantage plan for a year and went back to Medicare. I lived it and you just google it. Therefore your opinion is irrelevant.
I have been on a Medicare Advantage plan for 13 years . I know what it is .
Who is responsible for the healthcare marketplace? Pretty sure it’s not republicans. Healthcare costs skyrocketed and the actual coverage started sucking after Obamacare went into place. In other words, Obamacare is responsible for most issues with healthcare especially the affordability.
thehill.com/homenews/sta...
Medicare4All would be a better solution.
🫡🥊🥊🥊🥊🥊
I live in Canada and pay NOTHING!!
I hope that this BIG BILL that trump pushed through the House will never pass in the Senate! You may once again lose your health care! What they plan to do is drop millions from the role! Then they will add new qualifications for the people that want to or NEED TO apply!
All the medicare A B C D nonsense drives me nuts. If we just have universal healthcare... No more arguing about who gets what. Just health insurance for all.
I’m sorry Jess but Republicans don’t care if you lose the help Medicaid provides to make healthcare more affordable. If you are poor, needy and can’t afford the coverage, they want you to just get sick and die. We are the disposable and replaceable drones of the economy.
So true… if you are part of the working poor, you’re flat out of luck.. the gop doesn’t care
I seriously don’t understand Repub voters. Paying $300-$1700 /mo (conservatively) for health care, AND paying generally HIGHER taxes than🇨🇦. Some paying higher taxes &have NO insurance cvg.😔 WHY on Earth would you keep voting for that? EVERY other 1st🌍 country has UHC. Boot Repugs, demand UHC.
To own the libs…truly.
Sadly, I believe you.
Jesus I pay $30 a month for Medicaid in Indiana. Only thing our state has done right
Also all my meds and visits are free. I often feel like a European with my health care. I wish all Americans got this
I am in California, we have MediCal. Thank goodness
Pathetic how someone without a job and struggling can’t have snap or Medicaid now and they’re like you have to have a job to get the benefits that are supposed to be for the people WITHOUT jobs and struggling in the first place. Because their head is so screwed on backwards so tight.
So was it a case of "fun while it lasted", so to speak, then?
It's based on your income.
And so the Republicans feel compelled to repeal/replace/decimate any and all Medicare/Medicaid policies! 🖕🏻
The Koch sucker family had a study done and it was shown that Medicare for all would save this country billions
Koch is one of the ultra wealthy that donates to elections but does not want to pay income taxes. There is another study that says, that if the 1% pay their fair share of income taxes. It could take care of world hunger.
Agreed no doubt. Not only do they not want to pay taxes, but they want all of us to pay for our own healthcare and retirement. Nothing from them
Back in 2009 Dem Rep Grayson of FL told what the Rep Health Care plan was 1) Don't Get Sick 2) If You Get Sick 3) Die Quickly Sarah Palin was saying "DEATH PANELS" which is true today
Too bad the GOP doesn’t get it or doesn’t care
Cutting Medicare and Medicaid will close many hospitals. Try getting medical coverage with no hospitals.
@alt-text.bsky.social
👍
Universal Healthcare! Between Medicare, Medicaid and contributions to employer plans or exchanges, Americans are paying thousands years for what? A couple of check ups a year and still have to pay 80% out of pocket for expensive tests like MRIs and prescriptions
These cuts will force hospitals and nursing homes to close. In rural areas they are screwed.
This bill not only cuts Medicaid but it will cut approximately 500 million of Medicare! Tell that shit to my significant other/husband of over 20yrs with CKD & myself that is an above knee amputee and other knee is bone on bone so wheelchair bound & a failed elbow replacement. Plus this cuts snap!
Here in Louisiana, a state with the one of the highest rates of poverty and they tend to vote republican, which i see as being self-destructive, Jindal refused expanded medicaid while he drove the state even further into poverty. Then Edwards got in one of the first things he did was expand it.
Welp the house just voted to change a few things. I’m completely disheartened, truly
shit 7000 a year!!!! damn i feel bad for all of you down there, good luck.
Medicaid’s role as a cost-control measure cannot be stressed enough and needs to be the primary message from those defending it to counteract the right wing’s focus on it being a “hand-out” to the poor. Only way to get the middle class to understand why this program is so essential.
Oh well.
Still very expensive. I pay 150 euros and the government helps me with 131 euros, so I pay a net sum of 19 euros a month. The government help is for people who have a low income.
I couldn't afford either one.
As an outsider looking in, I never realised how damaging the cuts to Medicaid are, I am shocked.
Guess what! $500 a month is still unaffordable. I paid that for 7 years. That shit policy covered nothing til i paid 6.5 K out of pocket, so i never went to the doctor. 42K for nothing. Then i smashed my face after fainting. 15 stitches, MRI, 1 mile ambulance ride: $6.8K. They covered none of it.
Medicaid does help everyone, and that's the problem.
My “Garbage Bill” just went up $324 a year. I opened a letter today stating my monthly healthcare premium jumped up $125 a month. Costs keep going up for Americans.
Now it begins. Donald Trump, DOGE and the Trump Administration. Cutting billions from humanitarians agencies, cutting life saving regulations, removing impediments to corporate profits, American deaths They don't care about We the People They work only for themselves and they blame us with lies
And so, of course, they want to take it away.
The Republicans in Mississippi have REFUSED Medicaid expansion. I think we're 1 of 10 states that still haven't expanded it.
And GA.
And FloriDUH
Texas too.
And now it's going to be ripped away from us. I am also self employed and cannot afford insurance and so I am on Medicaid. I have medications, checkups, etc I get by using it and that will all go away. My BP may kill me off without my meds. 😪
Cutting Medicaid is a line in the sand. Easily washed away by the tide. We need a wall
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Still a lot of money. Forget about trillions of dollars in government spending. The five hundred is what you have to deal with
There also needs to be more focus on how Republican obstructionism made healthcare so expensive. Obamacare/ACA should have been very low like 5-15 bucks a month, but noooo, corporate greed and dirty politricks.
Sadly, that is going to go backwards for that individual and many others. Why is it so hard for Republicans to understand the connection between their voting habits and impact to their well-being and finances?
Same. I was a small business owner for 12 years and had to live on a small budget. If I didn’t have Medicaid during that time I would not have had anything.
I work for a hospital and can’t afford their insurance. Been using MO Healthnet, and they just stopped covering the tests my doctors requires for my meds. It’s $710 per test. FK MO politicians
MO is just crazy crazy crazy. I just don’t understand how these ppl keep getting voted in. Legislation is just vicious.
The CBO said Americans at the lower ten percent of the income scale actually pay more under the House bill - people in the highest ten percent will benefit the most - there you have it!
Same except I am retired
Cobra is currently $1500 a month in MI.
Jess, the state Medicaid plans are based on the poverty level, and which category you fall in, like LIF = low income, ABD = aged, blind or disabled. LIF could be determined by how many underaged children you support in your household. But a healthy adult able to work would not be covered.
No, not everyone. Each state could be the same, but my state has categories for recipients to qualify for Medicaid coverage. Depends on how many are in your family, your income at poverty level. Then you could qualify for LIF= Low income family.ABD =Aged, Blind, Disabled. Or pregnant women/poverty
I hope those losers who voted for trump and this regime are now happy they may lose coverage. Or, do they now expect the democrats to bail them out as they do when a rethug congress is in power?
I think some if them expect church charities to step up, maybe??? at least that’s what I used to hear, “people should be giving their money to church and community groups of their choice instead of the government”.
$500 is still too much for me, and it’s probably for a high copay and high deductible, and denial of everything useful, and no doctors near me. So basically, almost no insurance plan I can afford is worth paying for. It’s actually cheaper to just pay full price. Or go to another country.
$500 a month is still criminal!
Indeed. Mine just went up to $205 Per month. 🇦🇺 $132 US (shared private hospital and extras. dental, massage…)
Yet that’s the catch, some Christian evangelicals perpetuated systems of greed, racism and exclusion, often in the name of religious conviction. This doesn’t reflect the historical Jesus, whose message was fundamentally about love, justice, and inclusion.
That was partly the price supports Biden put in. Those go out next year. But you're right. When hospitals have someone to pay. The costs of the uninsured. Those don't get added to regular health insurance premiums. Lowering those bills too.
Not anymore!
I had to actually call somebody and have them walk me through getting my tax rebate through the marketplace It must be different for every state because I don't know who can afford $1,200 a month but that's rent.
Gee, I pay about 20% income tax up here in Canada and that includes my healthcare insurance. And now it’s beginning to include dental care. Have you considered the USA applying for becoming the Eleventh Province?
I wish.
I’d love to be adopted.
I wish!!!
Would you take us? 😅
Sure, but, y’all gonna have to take and pass Social Responsibility classes before you can vote.
Wish we had that too
I don’t mind taking classes lol
Harsh but fair.
Please?
Our health care propaganda convinced these uneducated idiots that socialism is bad.
The thing is that it's not really socialist. Canadian healthcare is simply paid for by taxes and regulated by the government. Each doctor has his/her own practise. There are services that are privately owned like labs and diagnostic services- it's more like a co-op.
NO! Let us be independent and sovereign, please! I am against this sort of colonialism!
Let us adopt your policies without becoming a colony/occupied nation.
I'm in NW Wisconsin which shares our northern border with Canada. Can we join you? Please? Pretty please?
Okay but, y’all gonna have to start making “Canadian Cheddar”.
You see, here in the USA, we’d rather be taxed into oblivion in little bits. We’re too stupid to do the math and the politicians LOVE it. FFS we used to have 1/3 pound burgers but we’re switched instead to 1/4 pounders because AMERICANS THOUGHT 1/4 WAS MORE THAN 1/3. Were so fucked
😂🤣😎👍🏻
Are you taking applications for citizenship?
How hard is your Canadian citizenship test? Do I have to recall all members of the Kids in the Hall?
I accept this on behalf of my country. For every time I didn’t bitch slap some dumbass saying dumb shit that got us in the mess we’re in.
I wish! My grandfather was from Nova Scotia. My sister & I would love to cross over to Windsor & rent for 6 mo out of the year to be away from this MAGA disaster even if it’s just for a while. We’d still be only 6 hours from home!
Without sounding cheesy, I’ve just kissed the Canadian soil I was born on.
Canada is the greatest country in the world. Be proud of what you did. I've done it.
Glad my two great grandfathers chose to move both of their families to Canada somewhere in the early 1900's. I complain because I have to pay $35 a month.
My parents immigrated from the UK 🇬🇧 in the early 60’s. Roughly 15 surgeries and hospital stays in my 60 years. Cost. Zero.
I had 7 operations for polio, and one was during the implementation of Medicare in Saskatchewan when the doctors went on strike. Two emergency surgeries in the 90's where I almost died. I can't even imagine getting a bill. I helped my neighbor with his after they wintered in Arizona. Nightmare. 🤬
I got bronchitis in Florida in 2014. a Dr. Visit, drugs (antibiotics and lots of cortisone for me, the wife and daughter) $600 usd! Bloody crazy. I always knew that 2nd amendment, Don't Tread On Me! was BS. The American people left everybody Tread on them. Zero red lines, Nada.
That's just unbelievable. I forgot to ask my parents what they did for my first surgery, before Medicare took effect in 1962. I'm assuming that the insurance policy my Dad bought covered it. After we got Medicare, the polio policy covered meals, lodging and travel. Mom always stayed with family.
It literally saved and saves lives today.
Yes. Everyone thought my Dad was a sucker for buying an insurance policy from someone going door to door. I believe it was from Lloyd's. But it was definitely great because the hospital was 100 miles away and we had to go by train for every doctor's appointment. Surgery was a 2 week stay.
My Dad was a surgeon in North Battleford when Medicare came in. I was too little to understand. But I remember him complaining that a plumber was getting more for a house call, than he was.
Thankfully it wasn’t a hospital stay.
I shudder to think. Amazing what people can be bamboozled into accepting.
With insurance, my wife paid over $2000 when I had my gallbladder removed. Luckily, I was on Medicare when I had cancer surgery and chemotherapy. Zero charges, although I was paying $250 for the added insurance.
I think ours is about $70 a month. My former employer pays half and it's deducted from my pension. The only thing I have had a bill for was ambulance, because they're all private. I've had lots of surgeries.
I know the moon is made of cheese but I wasn't aware that Canada is. No wonder I love Canada.
😁
I don’t understand why insuring people is controversial. When we insure people our premiums come down, ERs become more efficient and we become a healthier society. The Rs want to keep us sick and it’s such bad policy

It did, but that's changing now.
It’s boggled my mind why so many states rejected the Medicaid option! Such Selfishness and Greed as they watch people suffer.
They were making a point to own the libs….it’s crazy
The cruelty is the point. They did it to “own the libs.” Just like the same ones turned down summer lunch programs for children.
If they truly wanted to save money they would get universal health care which would be 80% cheaper that our current system cause it gets rid of big pharma
We absolutely should have universal insurance but there are a lot of other costs that make health care high than pharma
Yes 34 so called first world countries 33 have universal health care stated in 1915 so yes it's been proven to work
The only way it'll happen is for the givt to mandate every employer provide every employee with Healthcare. We'd have universal Healthcare in days
After having an Angioplasty with Stent. 2002. Free I approached a Private Medical insurance company in Ireland. Just in case I would need immediate health cover. With my history. They quoted €5000 for 5 years. Providing I didn't claim. I was in full-time employment in Heavy Industry. 🇮🇪🇪🇺
$500 a month is still fucking crazy.
