They reminded me they have a hard time getting out of the 90s by the end of every school year. Most try to make it to 9/11. Good try, Ryan Walters 😂

Sounds like it's a law passed just to check off someone's list knowing nothing will come of it.
When I was in college in the 80s, it was common for US History high school courses to stop at WW I or WW II. The most impossible college history class to access was Modern US History, because everyone wanted to fill that gap in their knowledge.
We finally updated our U.S. history curriculum. We manage to get to 2008. 🤷🏼♀️
Surely the 90s are current events, not history, right? Right???
Ryan may want to question the illegitimate 2024 election @electiontruth.bsky.social it’s all gonna come out.
God I hope so !!!!!
9/11 is hard to teach because our history education is Eurocentric and Western. Students have very little knowledge base for 9/11. Also, many states only require 2 years of history for graduation. My state happens to require 3. World History and 2 years of American. It should be 4 in my opinion.
This shows real progress since the mid-1970s. My public school history classes somehow never got past the Civil War.
That’s what I was wondering?!? My friends and I have discussed how far our history classes went: NC and FL: revolutionary war OH: Vietnam CA/OR: civil war
In my hs social studies classes in the late 1960s they never got anywhere near the Civil Rights Movement. In my senior year when I complained, the teacher invited ME to give a class on it. Me! I did it and that one day was the only time CRM got treated at all.
Heh. Of course if OK wanted to get rid of some of their endless end-of-the-year standardized testing, they might free up more time to cover history!
It’s about appeasement and praising Trump. Right? Does Ryan really care if it gets taught?
I really made it to the 80's I use to have to do the whole of the 70's in a single class List all the bad things from that decade "Worst of all, we had Disco" Then I turn on the Saturday Night Fever Soundtrack and try to do my best Disco dancing
Most US History teachers don't make it past the 1980 election.
when i took it in the 80s the teacher went from present to past, almost certainly because he wanted to complain about Reagan, by the end we were just at the end of the Vietnam War
i guess i wouldn't be surprised if an (obviously illegal) order came down from on high that American history is taught in reverse chron now
Which is insane.
That makes sense. We didn’t get to the Vietnam War when I was in school in the 80s. Besides, usually recent history is controversial. Teachers are awesome!
Well as a dismayed Okie on these so called standards you brought a smile to my face. 😹
