I blame MAGA Fascist Christianity Insanity because WWII History says so...
You don't have to have done any of that to know we must fight! #TrumpCheated #RiggedElection #TrumpForPrison #MAGACult #SaveDemocracy #Retribution

6/14 I'll be walking the city hall sidewalk in Fulton, alone or not. #NoKings #resist
If they want me to be quiet, they will have to kill me.

The American people have been bamboozled. Millions of Americans are said to have lower than a fifth grade education. There's no excuse for choosing not to vote during midterm 2025. 🫴 vote.gov 👀 Register for elections ASAP, and show up to vote.
oh yeah i forgot i could just vote harder
no
Oh......😯
This is why the oppressor starts to burn and ban books.
youtube.com/shorts/oaS0f...
Thank you!
I, too, have read books, and therefore know too much to remain silent. (Books scare fascists.)
Meee tooo. 🥲😡🥲💙
I might suggest the Chronicles of Amber, and the whole Pern series. The Harper Hall Series of Pern is great. Revolt in the Year 2100 is good, as is The Moon is a Harsh Mistress.
Yes, completely relatable.
✊🏼 #NoKings
The problems we face are bigger than just Donald Trump; they include the Republican Party—Without their support for Donald’s agenda, we wouldn’t be here.
I’ve lived a 30 year old dictatorship until having democracy restored. No good.
The meaning of this sentence is that if you remain silent today, you may not find a topic to talk about tomorrow or not at all. What he wants to say in general is that when there's opportunity, he has to talk and put his ideas
forward. Otherwise, you may not have a chance or a suitable topic to talk about later.
👆💯 Same
I’ve read too much about the 3rd Reich to be quiet.
The hillsides ring with "Free the people" Or can I hear the echo from the days of '39? With trenches full of poets The ragged army, fixin' bayonets to fight the other line
They are good for recognizing bullshit from the State. That's for sure.
I had to delete "dystopian" movies/books from my preferences-lists as I'm living it too-vividly already
It is said there is nothing new under the sun. History is full of stories identical to what is happening in the US today. This too shall pass. Eventually the fall of the US empire will be written into history books.
You might like this antifascist, dystopian trilogy. Rising authoritarianism worldwide inspired me to write an allegorical trilogy on the perils of fascism: 1) unnecessary war, 2) failed democracy & resulting climate crisis, & 3) racially-motivated subjugation. See: amazon.com/dp/B0B1JNBCTK?
I have WRITTEN them, and they were so outside even spectrum of fiction to be believed. And, yet, it is happening. I gave up writing fiction last year because nothing I could write is crazier than what P2025 is bringing. I had such a lack of imagination, & I had too much faith in Americans.
And I have been reading books on the Holoy since I was nine years old and that was 50 years ago. I’ve watched numerous documentaries about the it and how Hitler came to power, and many resistance movies, too. It’s the same playbook.
Oops..Holocaust. Voice texting 🤦♀️
Relatable, 3,500< books later
I find it insanely ironic that the people screaming '1984' back when they were told being openly bigoted and racist wasn't okay... But now that we are ACTUALLY seeing aspects of that book coming out... they're suddenly silent...
EXCELLENT 👍🥰
No doubt.
This is the moment we’ve been training for
Have you seen this? youtu.be/YJSehRlU34w?...
Have you read this? www.cornellpress.cornell.edu/book/9781501...
Kent State!
Everyone in this country should read a book about the cruelty that slaves had to endure. Are we not a modern society that strives to be better than the day before. We must rise up
Yes many of us read 1984 and more. It's scary.
SAME.
Exactly. We've seen this and we know where it leads.
Although according to some people, once I started talking, I didn't stop...long before I read science fiction. My mother said I had "Yes, but...." and "Why not?" at expert level. (
youtu.be/gIMo1WoHcfE?...
👍
I'm starting to wonder if liberals are all talk, because we're long past talking and way into the fighting. We've been taking gut punch after gut punch and no one is thinking to fight back. We should be planning to murder ICE agents in their homes in front of their families but instead we're just...
If you do that, the gloves come off, and you lose. Full stop. I don't want to see that happen.
It's weird, I'm new to Bsky and I have no idea what you're replying to. No matter how hard I click on your reply it doesn't give me context so I have no idea what you're warning me about.
I was replying to your post about hurting ice agents etc...
Read a lot of history, have you?😁
DEMAND the US MILITARY REMOVE the "trumpy dumpy NAZI REGIME" COMPLETELY!!! "THEY" are TRAITORS to our COUNTRY - the USA!!!
How I wish that the dystopian novels had never made it into real life.
My conspiracy theorist father thinks the Simpsons are part of the illuminati because of their "predictions." I keep trying to tell him that if you lampoon society for decades then eventually society catches up with satire.
Same 🙋♂️
You say it, sister!
You have a good heart. We cannot remain silent when others are needlessly suffering, especially when it is done callously.
And know too much history
all the messed up movies from when we were kids are now true or about to be up next Soylent Green(it was set in 2022) They Live and Idiocracy jumped way ahead in line once they start making ICE Terminators it's over for everyone including the Nazi's who made them.
Me too. Life is mirroring fiction. Or is science fiction a road map of our future? Can we change it? Can we make things better? Or are we looping a real-life Wheel of Fortune: things go up things go down.
V comes to mind, also.
We're at the intersection of The Handmaid's Tale and Hunger Games
Ever read The Mists of Avalon? My favorite after the dictionary. Drew me into all sorts of Mythology, and Esoterica. 💖✨
Actually the invoking the insurrection act without any reason is a declaration of civil war because any democrat can be arrested by any federal agency. The military would have to choose to kill citizens or get rid of the president who caused this. Frighteningly close.
Same!
Unfortunately, while Progressives view Orwell and Atwood as cautionary voices, Conservatives see them as purveyors of roadmaps. 😢😢
I feel the same way about my fascination with the Holocaust starting when I was in middle school. I knew I was studying this stuff for some reason; now I know it was to be informed and vigilant about the same thing happening in my own backyard. Once you know, you cannot unknow and stay silent.
Yes. While teaching the horrors of the Holocaust in my English classes I learned that the Danish silently protested by wearing a single safety pin. I have worn one since 2015. They quietly saved many people.
I experienced the same fascination. As an American mutt blend with a father's German sir name, I felt a deep shame as well.
I feel a sense of shame as an American now, which is very sad because we are being misrepresented on the world’s stage by an authoritarian.
I do too. I recognize my own complacency in failing to step out of my belief that this could never happen. Yet, the current resident occupied the office once in 2021. I feel it's shame now. I am in the streets and peaceful; come join me.
My father had also… He warned me of the Dems get power in 2026, it’s all going to happen. Completely ignoring that Trump already is.
And what about history?
I certainly can't shut up. What the hell is wrong with everyone? Get excited, resist, protest, march, just DO something, it's for our country.
I am right there with you. Be Silent No Longer by The Brickley Bray Project. www.broadjam.com/songs/TheBri...
The Man in the High Castle was scary. Based on a book by Philip K. Dick. It was a series.
Try history like "The Theory and Practice of Hell" by Eugen Kogon.
Spain was under fascist Franco from 1939 to 1979. Once fascism has a grip, it is hard to shake it loose.
People get caught between fear of violence and fear of being ratted out if they complain. And this government has DOGE and Palantir stealing our personal information.
It was the result of a resurrection by fascist military against the liberal, democratically elected government. Franco’s forces were aided by Hitler’s Germany and Mussolini’s Italy. The civil war that followed was a carnage. But they fought.
come to canada if u can
I've read too much about Nazis to believe that peaceful protest is going to make any difference
Right?
just read too much generally
Sometimes I wonder if all the Dystopian speculative fiction written for millennials (mostly by Gen X) led us here. Boomers tended to write Utopian sci fi. Could be cyclical; Orwell and Huxley were writing before Boomers. We create narratives in response to trauma. Then the simulation adapts?
Could you cite One Fictional account of a ‘Conservative Dystopian Society’ ?
Feel you my sister
Me too.
!! Lee Child - the author- left America to back to UK when Trump won
Novels and fiction?
My parents and their families survived wars and famine and I will not forget what they endured; they told me some things about what it was like, but there were some things that I know they could never tell me about. Especially my dad.
I used to love dystopian movies and novels. Sad we are living in one now eh?
Life imitates art
They don't think that applies to them, too.
Drape yourself in the American flag. It’s ours! Be brave!
Control
Lol
Even more reason to wear the flag during No Kings Day June 14!
They need to stop wrapping their racism in the flag & calling it patriotism 🤬
Lady…keep saying that over and and to everyone that will listen over… the tide will turn around again
My kids freshman year of HS was one dystopian novel after another.
It’s terrifying to witness how willingly the government is implementing AI without any safeguards in place, and the immoral unhinged CEOs leading its development.
Totally true - add a. Inch of WWII novels and you’ve rounded out my take on all this - never ever thought I’d experience it
I read 3 books about the Dutch resistance last year, and one book about life in a small resort town in Germany after hitler took over
I've breathed too much air to be quiet about civil rights.
Love science fiction, but what we are seeing is 1984 and Animal Farm combined.
Civil rights poems is big ! 👍
That’s another reason they want to ban books! The power of education!!
Absolutely Agree This Is Why I Always Say MAGA Voter's Are Deadly And Must Be Eradicated...
I think everyone has been too quiet for too long.
Fiction is Truth equals non-fiction.😩
☝️
Heard someone ask if Tyler Perry’s latest Netflix ‘Straw’ is based on a real-life story, which reveals how ridiculously blind and sheltered some white folks are. Women, especially poor Black single-household females, are bombarded on a daily basis with survival challenges. Thus, ‘the last STRAW’.
And now you know why Republicans want book banning a/burnings and the erasing of history. FFS, they lie about something we all watched 5 years ago and are getting away with it!!
And I'm quite afraid....
I 've reached the point of feeling like the real lesson of all the history and dystopian fiction I read is that people are too goddamn stupid to learn from the thoughts and experiences of others just as I only now truly understand the full cruelty of Apollo's sex-pest with power curse on Cassandra.
...not to mention the non-fiction historical evidence 🤔
The truth is stranger than even non fiction. #truthRetold
Amen
You & me both!
IF YOU ARE PROTESTING, COVER YOURSELF IN THE AMERICAN FLAG. 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸 optics are everything!! The media and public will have no choice but to see the govt enacting violence against AMERICANS. Take our flag back from the fascists and flip the script on them!!! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸

It's pretty scary when the science fiction and dystopian novels become reality.
And Octavia Butler set her novel in 2024 or 2025 😬💥
I just read Parable of the Sower last week…..😳
The shock is not simply the catalog of constitutional infractions, which goes on queasily, or the course of change, which has been costly and swift. It’s the scarce challenge that these upheavals have received and the alacrity with which institutions have indulged the White House’s whim.
Its simple common sense. Everyone is born with it, you see the ones that don't utilize it.
Now is the time to #Resist by any & every means possible!
I hear you! But, dang, some of the best novels are dystopian hellscapes!
Thats why they want to ban books. See how much 'trouble' they cause? 😉
This is going to get real ugly real quick.
Add History
Which is all part of the wonder and glory of reading: it empowers you to speak up. Which is all part of why this administration and its state-level droogs are so intent on banning and censoring books.
I recommend Kurt Vonnegut. Currently reading Player Piano and it seems so apt to the times.
Yeah kylo ren and his father are real. Weally
I still have my USMC peak-&-crease cover.
Thank you. Going to No Kings in Denver. I definitely will. And wear my old Navy ball cap from when I was in.
Yes! 🙌 thank you for your service! Us veterans need to make a stand for the freedom we believe in
Make a stand? They did. 65% helped sit a treasonous draft-dodging felon in 1600.
Yes they did. And less than 50% of Americans voted for him. What’s your point? Are all Americans responsible for the actions of the 49%? Are all veterans responsible for the actions of the 65%? (Who make up approx 1% of the population btw, so veterans aren’t your problem)
*32% of the American voting population voted for him. Less than 50% of Americans who *did* vote, voted for him. I feel like that distinction is important, because, though we know they *should* have voted, they did not. But they also did not vote for Trump.
Perhaps. The reasons people don't vote are varied. Apathy, inability to make it to the voting places, etc. But the point is, less than a third of the American population actually wanted him to be President enough to take time out of their day to go to the polls and vote for him.
The people who didn’t vote at all are just as culpable
over 50% of Latino men voted for him too, and look what’s happening to them. Your argument doesn’t hold water. Lots of people made a terrible mistake and lots also won’t ever admit they regret it. If even a few stand up, that’s better than none.
Terrible mistak? Lie to yourself if you need to. They sat a treasonous draft dodging racist who separated children from mothers and place them in cages. Twice. They just didn't realize this shit was going to splash on them too.
More than half helped seat a draft-dodging treasonous racist. White Americans are known to lump one with all.
The problem is 65% of veterans who overlooked his draft-dodging & treasonous history. And the 45% of Palestinians who seemed to forgotten Gaza's children or 57% of white women who could swallow a racist rapist or the 67% of Cuban who told themselves a treasonous racist was a safe bet.
Precisely. So so so many people overlooked his red flag because they just could not vote for a woman. Not saying Kamala was perfect, but she was clearly the lesser of the two evils.
The wise one knows seldom does all have clean hands.
Lol
I want a T shirt that with that pledge! Anyone?
By all means use it. All i ask is that you use the newest, revised version (below). It has a small disclaimer asking for credit of the creator, KMaCK8848@, which is me.
As I created this text version, the original image file, and the poster, I can check the best option for generating T-shirts. Give me a week to pull that together.
Moving forward, please use this revised version of the NEW pledge. It has a tiny disclaimer asking merely for credit to the creator, KMaCK8848@.
Thanks for the reminder. You are spot on and the effect is so clear and cannot be tainted by biased reporting. The flag stands for freedom and truth and the Republicans don't own it.
BINGO. I get it that people don’t want to be identified and want to wear all black to cover up. But add a layer of American flag to that and you are instantly now on the side of the freedom fighter and there is literally no way to spin that in the media other than Americans protesting oppression🇺🇸
your social media post proves that. 😂
You mean #slavery
Orwell and Atwood are literally my godparents
you're going up against people who think reading is something to be ashamed of unless it has memes
I've read William L. Shirer's Berlin Diary. I can't keep quiet.
Most of this nonsense is in the Asimov series! Scary!
Literally me.
Some of lived the civil rights fights.
Amazing how prescient they were.
Same here. I have a whole collection of dystopian SF. It never goes well. But, being fiction, the stories often end happily enough. Reality, however, does not have to have a happy ending.
I love dystopian films but please if you may suggest a novel I really need a kick ass dystopian read
archive.org/details/geor...
Pipe up Piper!
…and there are history books, as well.
Here is what you do: 1. Get out there. Today, tomorrow, no later than the 14th. 2. Don’t be violent. That’s it.
Fuck number 2. You wanna know how to stop fascism, ask a WWII vet. Your pacifism is what got us here.
If you don’t speak up publicly your soul will slowly die.
We ALL need to SPEAK UP, not just Amer. , but the world !! We can start with this world-wide money grab. And selfishness and UNcaring for each other has GOT TO STOP. Rev. McConnell
So... What's everybody reading these days to understand and prepare for what's happening/coming?
Have you tried reading actual history or just the stuff your socialist professor told you to read in college?
All professors are not socialist. Sorry but they aren't. If you went to college you would know this. And most history professors are not socialists...they are historians...and a different breed. Mainly libertarian, along with political scientists.
I did go to college. My experience is that they are much more socialist than libertarian.
Actually my history professors had me read, Gulag Archipelago (i had already read it in 8th grade), The Rise of the Third Reich, Bury My Heart at Wounded Knee, Grant, Carnage and Culture, A people's history, killer angels, southern Storm. My sociology professor s,
Had me read social construction, Sociological imagination, Durkeheim Suicide, DuBois Souls, the sociology of science, the power elite, economy and society, Foucault Discipline and Punishment and of course Marx and Engels. Sociology professors do not assign history books.
You have essentially proven my point. Have you ever read the Federalist Papers, Common Sense, Democracy in America, The Road to Serfdom, Sacred Fire, The Forgotten Man, The 5000 Year Leap? How about actually reading the Declaration of Independence?
I've read many books on WWII on what the Nazis did, I will never be quiet.
That's is so heartbreaking. It us beyond belief that the country that had elected senators and representatives to represent us as one united country is sitting back and allow what is happening.
yeah. philip k. dick warped my emotional safety net decades ago.
👍🏻
I have too!
Dystopian has always been my favorite escape, now I'm trapped in 1984
We are in a crisis.
Ya me too... Just remember when the monsters come all you can do is scream.
Agree. I feel like I’ve been waiting for this nightmare since I was a teen. It all goes away when the liars and social media barons are jailed
Good for you! Thanks!
Southern conservatives are trying to help with this problem. They are banning books & cutting school budgets & library funding just as fast as they can. Bless their crooked, hateful, blackened little chicken hearts.
That’s the kind of fire the world needs.
We're at the end :good v evil
So now you're going to beat us to death with your lips? 😂😂😂
Same. Plus my parents and their families were thrown into camps because they looked like the enemy. So I don’t believe the BS.
I thought Brave New World and 1984 were books only about Stalin's Russia. Not a future America stealing kids from their parents & a President asking the Army to shoot into a peaceful crowd & a sociopath traitor in the Oval Office directing psuedopatriots to overthrow the U.S. Government. - Drew
I’ve studied and taught the Holocaust for far too long…
Same here. We are there.
Thank you for teaching a very difficult chapter in our world history.
You’re welcome. I wrote the unit after studying with USHMM’s historians and survivors. The history resonated with my students, especially the incarcerated young men who knew exactly what it was like to do the bidding of their “big homies” in their gangs.
I grew up on Sci-Fi too, read 1984 and we've all witnessed the greatness of Capitalism. Seems to me there's a better way to deal with people than a dystopian future...
Phillip K. Dick "Man In the High Castle"...
Darkness at Noon, Redux.
Me too! Too much familiarity for me.
Isn’t it wonderful how stories make the world a better place???
This explains the problem with most white progressives and liberals. You romance oppression and conflict because you've never experienced it in a genuine form. It's fun for you. There are no consequences for you.
💯
Trump et al are relying on us to think "oh, he's not crazy enough to try X or Y or Z."
That someone figured out the message
The more you know…

Even if you've read nothing on the topic we have a revulsion to being suppressed. The reason dystopian horror resonates so well is because none of us are okay with being controlled like cattle.
Yet, here we are. Being controlled like cattle.

Only people that had never read a book find this situation nearly normal and are not stunned seeing it
You are 1000% my people.
None of us can be quite at this moment. Actually, we need to be as loud as we fucking can!!!
Totally 💯 %.
