Ashley Weitz (she is a public advocate) has worked for years to educate medical students about the harms of this practice; testified before several state legislatures. Finally, laws are changing in states. I'd link a news article, but it's NYT and I don't boost that outlet ever.

It’s straight up targeting of women for the purpose of sexual abuse. They don’t do prostate exams. Penis exams. It’s just a way for creepy ass men to rape us.
