Now the churches can tell their followers they will go to HELL if they do not vote for their preferred candidate.

previously they had a lot of discretion as to how to interpret law. but if they send it up to scotus to they might just rule that the IRS is no longer allowed to interpret, only strictly enforce which basically means no federal government outside of what they can fund through gifts and seizure

It's not as big a deal as it looks. Most congregations don't endorse candidates and won't start doing it now. The few that are left have already been doing it. Enforcement of the rule has been lax for years.
