Growing up in Montana, in a home where beef was pricey, myself & siblings ate lots of deer meat. Had tons of energy. So don't be afraid of properly harvested & cooked venison.

What’s sad is ground beef is just other cuts of beef that was on the shelf & didn’t sell before the “sell by” date. On the original “sell by” date, the steaks & roasts are ground up, repackaged, repriced, & redated to give the store added opportunity to make profit. So, why is the price so high?

The deer around here isn't very gamey because they eat corn and other crops. It's a good option and the number of active hunters hasn't kept up with the deer population. Plenty available for harvest once the season hits. One deer can fill a freezer all winter.

Yeah, we are already eating deer meat chili because a kind neighbor gave us deer meat which is very helpful. It turned out very yummy. Normally we get 98% of food from foodbanks because nothing is left after paying bills. But foodbanks are running low here because of high demand & fewer donations.
