We have eight congressional districts in Missouri. Only two are held by Democrats. Kansas City and St. Louis. The Missouri governor wants to gerrymander Kansas City. If they are able to do it, Missouri will only have one Democratic district. For reference, Kamala won 42% of the state.

Fair maps in California and New York would cancel out every R gerrymander we've seen proposed. Improving the maps in Washington, Maryland, and Illinois would add to it. We have options if our leaders do the right thing.

It's ridiculous that blatant cheating has become commonplace. Congressional districts should be drawn by census population data only.

Missouri is the state where Republicans ruled for 22 yrs & in 2020 the husband & wife Householders who ran girl religious boarding school for yrs were arrested for 100 child abuse felonies including rape immediately bailed and never have gone to trial. No Republicans pushed for trial in that thread
2/ time cause possibly children in Missouri are not valued and well connected religious people are? I'm not sure. I do know in Missouri in 2019 MO lost 978 children out of foster care and 1 was sex trafficked in 4 states. MO pays such poor state social work salary that the legislature thread
3/ prioritized cost over care. MO still puts kids in foster care at 2xs the national rate since working a case before hand costs & that interferes with Mos low tax no tax agenda So as long as the 1 in 3 poor kids currently on Medicaid just get kicked off & only poor kids suffer in foster care thread
4/ or get abused cause they are part of a system where those arrested at religious boarding schools like Circle of Hope whose owners were arrested for rape & sodomy never go to trial just hang out in the community & " at church" sure, let's gerrymander more Republicans in.

Our districts should be 3D/5R They were gerrymandered to be 2D/6R in 2020. We are not a 1D/6R population.
Emanuel Cleaver hasn't done much to fight for the seat he's been in for 20+ years. I don't want to give up another seat, but I'd damn well like to see a Democrat that didn't take the job for granted.
