I stocked up in January because of tariffs, but I’m out now. Went to buy it again yesterday and saw that the tariffs have set in. Looks like this is life under Trump. Higher prices on everything…

I don't drink coffee, but I'm not okay with this. But I figure most Americans will put up with higher prices because they don't want DEI or drag queens.
Yes, overall, grocery prices are going higher. Especially fresh foods: meat, fruit, vegetables, dairy.
When the shipper added 170% to my small order from China, I said “Please sir, may I have another?” No. I sent it to Canada and paid a small sales tax.
Mine is 40.3 ounces for $19.69. That’s up $3 already
I did the same, stocked up on coffee months ago and now almost out. I guess having more coffee in the cupboard just means we drink more of it🫤
Since April, a 25.6 ounce canister of Maxwell House French Roast coffee, which my local groceries (in a Washington suburb in Maryland) used to put on sale for $5.99 to $8.99, has a sale price of $12.99 to $17.99. When not on sale, the regular retail price is now a whopping $22.99!
My usual was around $8/ can until recently. Now, if its on "sale, it's $13 !!! Over 50% increase. So, is the tarriff on Brazil 50%?
I stocked up on coffee and chocolate in January. But, yeah, I'm gonna run out before this bullshit from Trump is over.
And they voted for him because he said he would reduce food prices Day One.
We stocked up in January and haven't touched it yet. Next bag, though.
The coffee I bought for $10 and change in January is now $24 and change.
I’m buying local roasted coffee now at 10.99/lb, which is up $1 from the start of the year.
We’re looking at a baseline tariff of 15% compounded by 10% weaker dollar. With a touch of corporate greed thrown in. Everything is going to be 30%+ more expensive.

The coffee commodity market has already been at record high prices. The increases you’re seeing in the stores are reflecting this, not the tariffs. But the tariffs will soon start to make much worse. Similar thing going on with chocolate right now.
I will say again, … Dnald Trump is just a distraction clown. It is the filthy rich people who belong to (sponsor) The Heritage Foundation who are running this country right now. They are now above the law.
These aren’t even the tariff price. This is just your grocery store raising prices beforehand. The theory could be that you won’t recognize the increase once it hits, but in reality, it’s just the grocery store (or distributor) price gouging.
Life under Trump, his "advisors", and the GOP. He isn't doing this alone. He could get push back from Congressional Republicans on AT LEAST this, but no. They'd rather continue the lie that tariffs are paid to the U.S. by other countries.
He really thinks we have to pay money to other countries when they put tariffs on goods we sell them and he thinks they pay us when we put tariffs on goods they sell us. I hate this hellscape. Why won’t someone explain it to him?
" Why won’t someone explain it to him?" As if he were capable of understanding an explanation, you mean? LOL!
0% he could understand and even if he could he’d never change his position and admit he was wrong.
We buy roasted coffee beans from Costco and grind them weekly into brewable grounds. One year ago we paid $15 for 3.5 pounds of beans. Earlier this week I paid $20 for the same size bag of the same brand. That's a 33 percent price spike on an item most of us might consider a life necessity. 😠
My husband's instant coffee has gone up by something like 20% and that is before tariffs. Not sure where to turn as even tap water is getting more expensive as data centers hoard supply.
Ms. Piper, this is clearly Biden's fault. Or Hillary's, or Obama's....
I still can’t wrap my head around why anyone would do this to their constituents.
I don't drink it so I don't know beans about the price. But I'm not surprised it's bean lower. Smuggling to start in 3...2...
I did the same in January on all the non perishable staples also up now up. 😡 so a Brazilian criminal fellow dictator doesn’t have to pay for his crimes.
It’s only going to get worse
Yes, aren’t tariffs great. Look at all the money they bring in says the most stupid man ever to be in the WH. From the third grade math class, tariffs are paid for by consumers not foreign nations.
Our 38 oz bag of coffee was $13.98 on Jan 25, 2025. Same bag today, Aug 7, 2025 is $18.42. This is Before Trump's threat of 50% Brazill tariffs.
Thank God I quit drinking coffee 👍
Same for ours.
And I seem to be addicted to that stuff!
Checked out coffee on Amazon. Prices have jumped!
Please stop feeding that juggernaut.
I try not to, but the only other retail outlet is Walmart and they are just as bad.
Harm reduction. I don’t have a car, and sometimes I buy from Amazon. I have reduced my spending to necessities. I often look for other manufacturers or local suppliers first. Don’t feel bad. There’s hardly any difference between Walmart and Amazon.
Like you, I buy only what is necessary. If I can purchase something at the supermarket, I do that, but I've noticed that I pay more at the supermarket.
Everything I used to buy on Amazon I now buy directly from the manufacturer. Hope that helps.
We did the same and yes, coffee prices have spiked since Jan. Bought a small freezer for meat, poultry, frozen produce since Mar. Anyone not paying attention seems surprised at today's grocery prices with no idea how much worse it's going to get.
We did the same - bought and stocked a chest freezer, filled the pantry with anything shelf stable. Still not touching it, but I'm pretty sure that ground beef has done better appreciating in the freezer than most of our investments. 😭
Lol so true, especially those meat prices. When our budget gets me down, I just open the little meat freezer to feel rich!
I did the same. Bought coffee, a small freezer and a vacuum sealer back in January. I'm pretty set for the next few months at least.
My tiny company imported from China. Before my goods left the factory, I checked what bracket my goods fell into, filled out quadruplicate form, WROTE A CHECK, and sent it to the appropriate US bureau, who then sent a permit to China for shipping. I figured that into my COGs and calculated my price.
Lion Coffee in Hawaii is amazing, delicious, and tariff free. They ship all over the US. But also, the tariffs are stupid, and DT is a Pedophile. www.lioncoffee.com
