Honestly, Jess, I’d dig deep into what they’re telling you. Maybe it varies state to state, but the states where I’ve lived don’t force you to use insurance. You just have to sign a disclaimer saying you know it won’t be applied to your deductible, you’re taking responsibility, blah blah.
I believe the guilty “they” here might be your provider and their billing staff.
