They won’t let me pay out-of-pocket when they have my insurance on file. I’ve actually begged them not to submit it to insurance, but I think it may be against Missouri law? I’m not sure.

Honestly, Jess, I’d dig deep into what they’re telling you. Maybe it varies state to state, but the states where I’ve lived don’t force you to use insurance. You just have to sign a disclaimer saying you know it won’t be applied to your deductible, you’re taking responsibility, blah blah.

I believe the guilty “they” here might be your provider and their billing staff.
