I once talked about my low teacher salary on Twitter. A Missouri lawmaker responded to my tweet saying, "Quit. No one owes you anything."

And then this same lawmaker will cry about having no teachers.
Name names. What a horrible response.
Justin Hill. He moved to Florida to sell insurance after he skipped his own swearing in to attend the insurrection at the Capitol. www.stltoday.com/life-enterta...
Of course… #FloridaMan
We don't claim him. And Florida ranks 48th in teacher pay because we're also a GOP-occupied state. My mom was a teacher for 30 years here. Then she spent 10 yrs as an advisor at a local college. She's currently the Membership Committee chair for the local Retired Educators Association.
My mom never made more than $58k/year and she has a Master's in Education and her certification as a guidance counselor. She was 3 credits short of a second Master's degree. She was a Middle School Gifted teacher most of her career and wrote her own curriculum.
Her law unit made the news and local papers because it culminated in a mock trial in front of a real judge in an actual courtroom. She partnered with a local law school.
Meanwhile, we have to keep taxes on the wealthy close to zero, otherwise they might lose their “incentive” …
And their kids probably go to private schools.
Ohio has a similar situation. One of my teacher friend's district was striking about 15 years ago. She worked in a VERY wealthy city. Republican reps said no teacher should be paid enough to be able to afford to live in that district.
WOW! What foolish and insensitive ass!
Missouri, enough said.
Miserable bastard! How do blatantly evil people get elected to political office? Ask Donald Trump!
It’s infuriating how some folks think that a person who has as much or more education than many CEOs & literally has the responsibility for educating & protecting the next generation (even from AK-47s) should take a vow of poverty. 😡
A great line to regularly feed right back to said lawmaker, especially when it’s re-election season!
Did you tell him he lost your vote, and those of those you knew? And that then his kids weren't owed anything?
🤬
I feel the pain. Florida is hardly a poor state yet teachers are apparently the 2nd lowest paid in the country. It’s shameful how teachers are treated in some states.
I hate to promote business-speak in any way whatsoever, but there is actually a difference between a leader and a ruler. And they can't lead worth a damn.
I hope you did quit they dont deserve good teachers if they arent willing to pay for them!
Meanwhile he’s raping children
No decency or even basic understanding of the issue. Just ignorant hate. The worst of us.
That’s really devaluing the work teachers do.
I assume that Missouri lawmaker was a male and wonder if he would’ve said the same thing to another male.
I bet there are states which pay male teachers for no good reason.
