I have been asking about what I call the “anger factor”. Will some or more of the GOP’s gerrymandering be canceled out by the American populace being angry at them? We need to watch for other ways they will rig. Like voting machines or outright canceling elections. Maybe the GOP starts a war.
This is what I’ve been saying for years! Dems need to reclaim state & local political positions. The GOP spent the 70s, 80s, & 90s taking over state gvt so they could gerrymander & manipulate fed elections. In the 70s & first half of the 80s my home state was more purple than red, now deeply red.

If the mid-terms were held today, I'd predict that the only seats Dems wouldn't win would be those where there was no Dem candidate.

I lived in Iowa for several years and now they are suffering from a grievous self inflicted wound. They sacrificed their economic stability, political influence, and personal freedom. They reacted emotionally to the world changing before their eyes and voted in a bunch of lying grifters.

from the national-level party leadership, which has starved state-level parties for decades and ignored rural America. The Iowa I grew up in had the best K-12 education system in the nation and three amazing public universities. And a strong union culture.
The GOP has defunded education, crushed unions with draconian laws, and destroyed the state's economy. It makes me sick. They did it through lies, Gerrymandering, and voter suppression. Run candidates for every position, fund basic campaign infrastructure, work the field, and see what happens.
If per reports there truly are 10 swing seats created in Texas, then it will be interesting to see how much angst lies deep in the heart of Texas.
