Picked up a bunch of the American MSiA Gundam figures from my parents' house last night and realized I'd completely forgotten about how at one point Bandai was just putting out unique variants to the line like the "Gogg Submarine Color." Not my photo, mine's loose in a ziploc bag in a big tote
I learned recently about a 3 pack thats just "fuck it, everyone in zeta is char now. And the suit that was already char is even more char.
They were doing stuff like the Real Type Gundam and Zaku colors back then but to my knowledge the Submarine Gogg might literally be the only one that was an original American color. I have to imagine this thing was a peg warmer
Also I can't believe I didn't realize until now that the Gundam head they used so prominently in the branding is from the poster for Movie 1
Real Type Guncannon/Guntank was a unique color scheme too IIRC (despite releasing normal colors of them). I think maybe the only other was the "Desert Ver."? That one was just a dumb color swap.
I'm so mad cuz I had all oft these at one point and I'm kicking myself for losing them...

If it were a brighter blue I'd guess it were a weird attempt for a pseudo-Hygogg. The fact that there's no U.S. release of the Alex Gundam (as far as I can tell. I'm not familiar with the toyline, I'm just looking at the wiki) points away from that idea, too.

Thats a pretty cool recolor but it is funny thinking that the regular color is somehow not for going under water.
I'm assuming the thinking is "this one's colored more like a submarine"
*pushes up the glasses of made-up bullshit* Well you see, the Goggs of the Mad Angler Squadron were painted for river and marsh operations in preparation for the Jaburo invasion, and they kept it for the attack on Belfast since it fit the parameters of what was ultimately a diversionary operation
Seriously tho, this is very cool and even though I collected a lot of US MSiA as a kid I don't think I ever saw this variant!
Much like the regular color Gundam, GunCannon, GunTank for space use; or Gouf for desert/land use; or... 😀 I wish I bought the MSiA EX Sazabi & Nu! Those would be the only 1/60 CCA until new the PGU coming. Those deluxe set are impressive and some NA only, wasn't available in Asia.
