In the early 2000's I worked for an Ottawa sartup bought by Paris company. I spent a week a month for 4 years in Paris. Despite your comments, Paris was much darker later in the morning and earlier at night than Ottawa spring/fall. Part of that is Paris was very overcast and wet from October to May
