Newsom's social media hijinx are entertaining, but I don't see that he's thwarted Trump. I'd be more impressed if he were actively educating Democrats about the purpose of Trump's depredations, which is to control every aspect of our lives. Does Newsom even recognize that?

Newsom cares about exactly one thing: a 2028 presidential run. That's what all this media buzz is about. That's why there's so many bots on here glazing him. He wants to be "the guy you think of when you think of opposing Trump" without actually having to do the work of opposing Trump.

That's how it appears to me, too. If he can wrangle the redistricting, great. The social media hijinx are fun but it suffers from diminishing returns. What we really need is a lot of people trying out different tactics, and not just for entertainment purposes either.

There hasn't been any material action from Newsom, that I'm aware of, except the redistricting. I think people are not aware how close we are to totalitarianism. Or maybe they are and don't care. Or maybe they want their own cult of personality...
