Some fools are telling me that legislative people can never be real leaders, that the skill set is different. Bullshit. Watch this LBJ speech. Is @schumer.senate.gov giving speeches like this, citing Lexington and Concord, about the reanimated Confederacy conquering DC? Do this, Senators.

Well, currently, a number of Blue state governors can be real leaders. And a few members of Congress. But our official Congressional leaders don't seem to have it in them to lead. They seem to be followers of polls given to clueless low info voters.

LBJ took action: he got the bill passed. If LBJ were running the Senate today he’d bring the chamber to a dead halt. There’s people who keep the lights on at complex organizations. And then there are leaders. @aoc.bsky.social is a leader. Schumer is a lights-on person. He needs to step down.

Fair enough, but AOC is in the house. Which Dem senator do you think should be the minority leader?

Like so many of our best political speeches, written in less than a day. Richard Goodwin’s memoir has a riveting account of its composition.
