I quite like that idea! Maybe Trelane was being quite careful not to identify himself or let on he'd met Spock, so as not to disturb the timeline?

But now I say that, he was also trying to force a marriage between Spock and Chapel which would have disrupted the timeline, so either I'm wrong or he's not thought it through... Which would be consistent if he hadn't
