Lenin was talking about the Bolsheviks themselves participating in bourgeois elections and winning seats to prove their legitimacy to the masses. He wasn't talking about electing liberals to pass reforms.

Maybe I exaggerated saying our votes literally don't matter, but I was thinking in terms of voting our way out of capitalism when we're living in a dictatorship of the bourgeoisie. In a later stage of class consciousness where we can win without running as dems, maybe we should participate.

I'd be ok with this and thats why I try not to dump on DSA people running as dems too much, BUT, and this is a big but, I think they should be running as revolutionary communists with the goal of educating the masses. Their goals should not be just getting into office and passing minor reforms.
