1) The nice thing about mp3 playlists is all the bad songs come pre-skipped. I'm never going to listen to Student Demonstration Time just because it's the next song.
2) There's a lot of songs that may not make the playlist but wouldn't rise to the level of actual skipping; it's not bad, but it's the sixth-best song on the album. There are a lot of bands that have a high floor which makes it hard to stand out
I salute you for having the fortitude to get through the first twelve minutes of "The Ancient." (Yes, I'm aware some people like it. The minute I hear Steve's drunk-sounding atonal shrieking guitar lead at the beginning, though, I just check out.)
