At one point there's a claim of one of the Devo guys "inventing electronic drums" (paraphrasing). It goes by quickly and I was like, WUT? wonder what JL has to say about that.....

I don’t know the specifics of his claim but my understanding (from a really good recent book called “Dancing to the Drum Machine”) is that Kraftwerk had electronic drums before anyone and that would’ve been years before Devo.

Likely one of those things where he made his own stuff out of necessity, with no idea what someone else had done. In the video they look really janky and homemade.
