live feeds are still 720p/30 but tbh that's what most of them are being produced in anyway

That's crazy. I haven't worked with HD broadcast equipment that isn't, at minimum, 1080i. Are they downconverting them for bandwidth?

why would a 720p station produce anything in 1080i (and most of the stations, a small majority but most of them, are 720p)
