Make a list of what will make the existing shed ideal. Electric? Ventilation? Does it need heat? Might hold off on a bench until you learn how you like to work. I do most of my work straddling a low bench rather than standing at a high bench. Both are useful, but if space is tight….

The artisan’s timeless dilemma. I think the new storage makes sense. You want a workshop where you want to be: is the existing shed that sort of space. Especially if you’re inexperienced and building, better the storage area have flaws than the workshop.
